Did you know 22% of Australian women are iron deficient?

You might have been told by your GP to jump on an iron supplement or have an iron infusion to get your levels up. While this is important, we also need to consider WHY we are low in iron.

I am absolutely thrilled to be travelling to Atlanta Georgia in the US in July to speak at the ITSAN TSW Summit on all things Topical Steroid Withdrawal.

Never in my wildest dreams would I have thought at 20 years old battling this awful condition that 10 years later I’d be travelling across the world to speak alongside some of the top TSW doctors, dermatologists and allied health professionals in the field. A real pinch me moment!

ITSAN has been advocating for TSW awareness for years and it is so promising to now see new research emerging on the condition.

I am so excited to connect with the TSW community and be part of such an amazing event!

Feel like you’re reacting to everything? Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS) is a chronic immunological condition where mast cells inappropriately release excessive histamine and other chemical mediators, causing severe, recurrent, and multi-system symptoms similar to allergic reactions.

The question is, what triggers MCAS in the first place? When our body is overburdened with toxins, inflammation and chronic stress, our tolerance to allergens, fragrances and other chemicals reduce as our body struggles to filter these toxins.

I often see mould exposure, chronic infections, prolonged chemical exposure and trauma playing a key role in the development of MCAS.

Ever wondered how GLP 1’s like Ozempic and Mounjaro actually work?

GLP 1 is a natural hormone produced in the gut to regulate blood sugar and appetite by signalling to our brain that we are full.

While these medications are great at reducing inflammation and balancing blood sugar, I often see patients eating significantly less due to appetite suppression. While they cause reductions in fat, they also contribute to reductions in muscle. This is why it’s vital to ensure we are eating adequate protein to reduce muscle loss, while increasing weight training to preserve strength.

As GLP1’s slow gastric emptying, you may find you are experiencing increased nausea, reflux, bloating and constipation. There are tools we use in clinic to mitigate this, to ensure we support gut motility and health.

If you’re on a GLP -1 and looking for support, please feel free to reach out ✨

Reacting to all the foods? Watch this!

Remember it’s not always the food…it’s the state of your gut.

Topical Steroid Withdrawal (TSW) is finally starting to get the recognition it deserves, and thanks to .nonprofit and some amazing TSW warriors sharing awareness, we are starting to see emerging research on the condition, and a diagnostic criteria!

When I went through TSW 10 years ago (almost to the day), there were very little resources available. I struggled to find medical professionals that acknowledged the condition. I was repeatedly told to use steroids as what I was experiencing was just ‘severe eczema’.

Although we have a long way to go, finally we are starting to see some research articles emerge on the mechanisms behind TSW, as well as diagnostic criteria and treatment options.

This means we are one step closer to understanding the drivers of TSW, and possible alternative treatment options.

I thought I’d break down the research and explain what it means for TSW sufferers 🩵

Are you suffering from Topical Steroid Withdrawal (TSW) years after stopping steroids and still suffering from severe flares?

You may be missing an underlying infection triggering your consistent skin inflammation.
