"This week, we celebrate the heart of Occupational Therapy. A profession built on purpose, creativity, and human connection. As we honour OT Week, can I please ask you all to take a moment to recognise and celebrate Alliance Clinics’ amazing team of OTs.

We acknowledge the OTs who came before us in this organisation, those who laid the foundations, developed the early processes, and helped shape the culture we continue to build on today. Their work created the strong platform from which our current team continues to grow, evolve, and expand our impact.

To our current team, thank you for being the living expression of OT in action. You bring our values to life every day, enabling participation, fostering independence, and creating space for people to thrive. You work across diverse areas, respond with insight and compassion, and adapt creatively to meet the unique needs of every participant. You advocate, collaborate, and innovate, not just in your clinical work, but in the way you support each other and contribute to a culture of connection, trust, and growth. You are shaping the future of our profession and enriching the culture of our multidisciplinary team.

To the OTs who will join us in the future, we look forward to walking alongside you, learning from you, and supporting you as you grow. You will bring new energy, ideas, and perspectives and we are committed to creating a space where you feel seen, valued, and empowered.

This year’s theme, “Occupational Therapy in Action”, beautifully reflects not only our profession, but our team. As generalists in a multidisciplinary practice, our OTs embody this theme every day adapting, problem-solving, and responding with empathy and skill to the diverse needs of our participants and communities.

Thank you for the passion, integrity, and heart you bring to your work. Let’s continue to celebrate each other and the incredible impact we make together."

- Deeana, OT Team Leader

Today we celebrate Allied Health Professions Day, held every year on 14 October that brings together the incredible community of allied health professionals across the globe.

This year’s theme "Stronger Together" shines a light on the power of multidisciplinary, team-based care - where collaboration between health professionals delivers the best outcomes for our clients and communities.

From speech pathologists and occupational therapists, to physiotherapists, dietitians, and social workers - every member of our allied health team plays a vital role in supporting health, wellbeing, and independence across Townsville, Mackay, and beyond.

As the health & disability system continues to evolve, it’s more important than ever that allied health professionals are recognised alongside their nursing and medical colleagues for their essential role in creating a truly comprehensive, person-centred healthcare system.

Here’s to our incredible teams, because we are always .

When your child is in pain, you feel it too. Parenting is tough enough, but living with a child in chronic pain makes it even harder.

This Kids in Pain Week (22–28 September), we’re shining a light on childhood chronic pain and the importance of care that looks at the whole child. Chronic pain is complex and can affect the immune, nervous, and hormone systems. That’s why a team approach, with different healthcare experts working together, can make such a difference.

Join us in raising awareness and supporting families living with childhood chronic pain. 💛

Chronic pain has devastating effects on those who suffer from it, including children, but it has wider impacts and they are costing Australia billions, a survey has found.

For Speech Pathology Week 2025, we're celebrating the incredible role speech pathologists play in helping people thrive at every stage of their lives. From young children to older Australians, speech pathologists are there, supporting wellbeing, confidence, connection, independence, inclusion and opportunity.

Around 1.2 million Australians need support with communication and behind every person, is a story, and a team of professionals making a real difference. Speech pathologists work across homes, schools, hospitals, and communities helping people live fuller, more connected lives.

Day 1: "Connection through communication" - Speech pathologists help people build and sustain relationships that matter.

As university-trained allied health professionals, they work alongside individuals, families, and communities to achieve communication goals. Whether it is supporting a child with a developmental language delay, helping someone recover their speech after a stroke, or assisting someone to communicate in daily life, speech pathologists foster connections, understanding, and participation.

Key points:
• Patients can access up to 5 Medicare-funded services/year
• Services must be in-person and at least 20 minutes
• Allied health providers must be MBS-eligible
• Referrals must be made directly by a GP
