Hi all, a quick February availability update for Alliance Clinics. In-clinic & telehealth services are available now for most disciplines.

Meet Cecil, a Mackay man whose life changed when he experienced a stroke. It was a challenging time, but Cecil faced it with determination and courage.

Whilst experiencing changes in all domains of life, one of his biggest goals? Regaining his ability to speak and communicate, as prior to engaging with Speech Pathology he was unable to communicate.
He has been working tirelessly to produce words and phrases again. Every week has been a step forward, and his progress is worth celebrating.

Along the way, Cecil discovered a new passion: bee keeping! Cecil is proud to sell raw honey to the Mackay community, sharing the sweetness of his hard work🐝

In Speech Pathology sessions and with his support worker Hien, Cecil practises words like “honey” and “bee hive”, and phrases such as “I sell honey”, all to help him confidently talk about his business. His therapy goals and his new venture go hand in hand, and the results speak for themselves.

His determination and positivity are inspiring, and his journey shows resilience and dedication. If you’re in Mackay, keep an eye out for Cecil’s honey, it is not only local, but also has an inspiring back story. You can find a link to his honey here:

I always knew I wanted to work in the healthcare field. As a therapist, I had always envisioned myself working in geriatrics or with adult participants, particularly in hospital settings. What I love about this profession is that you can be a therapist in so many different contexts. There’s always something new to learn, and right now I’m enriching my practice by working with children. After all, therapy can also happen with toys and bubbles in the session!

I demonstrate OT in action with the people I support by being fully present and engaged in every session. I’m a committed therapist who always tries to make activities meaningful and enjoyable, so that participants feel motivated and involved in their own progress. I like to do fun and creative sessions that not only focus on building skills but also bring a sense of confidence and joy to the process. I believe that therapy works best when people feel supported, respected, and inspired - and that’s what I try to bring into every interaction.
