If your child finds handwriting slow, tiring, or tricky to keep up with, a DASH (Detailed Assessment of Speed of Handwriting) may be recommended.

The DASH is a standardised tool that looks at handwriting speed and performance across a series of short, timed tasks.

It helps us understand:
🖊️ How quickly your child can write in different situations
📊 Whether their handwriting challenges are impacting learning
✨ What strategies or accommodations could support them at school

With clear, research-based results, DASH gives us the evidence we need to plan therapy goals and, where appropriate, provide recommendations for classroom support.

💛 At Hope Kids OT, we use tools like the DASH to look beyond “messy handwriting” and truly understand what’s happening for each child.
