Get • April is Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) Awareness Month, a month to raise awareness of a common neurological condition that many people haven’t heard of, or don’t understand. Despite this, it is the second most common reason why people visit neurologists 🧠
FND affects how the brain and nervous system communicate with the body, leading to symptoms such as movement disorders, sensory disturbances or functional seizures.
Physiotherapy is central to FND management as part of a coordinated, multidisciplinary care team. Through targeted exercises, education and self-management strategies, physiotherapists help individuals regain control, shift focus and set achievable goals to improve their quality of life. They can also advocate for a timely diagnosis of the condition, due to their knowledge and expertise in the structure and function of the human body.
