MEET OUR TEACHERS: 4 questions with Daisy 🌼
g
It’s about time we introduce you to our beautiful teacher Daisy! Daisy has a long time love for yoga: both the tradition, and the way it supports healthy happy living in the modern world. We are so grateful to have her sharing the practice with you each week.
FOUR QUESTIONS WITH DAISY:
🌿 Four words to describe you:
Warm, curious, goofy, excitable.
🌿 What can people expect in a class with you?
One of my students recently described my classes as slow & strong. In my Solar Hatha classes students can expect simple & dynamic flows paired with longer holds as is typical in Hatha yoga. This combination allows us to sync up with our breath, build strength and flexibility whilst travelling inward and calming the mind. All classes have an inspiring and uplifting focus woven throughout and end with pranayama & meditation. Options are always provided and students are encouraged to check in with themselves and honour their own wants and needs each time they arrive on the mat 💖
🌿 Which of the yamas or niyamas do you most resonate with?
Santosha - contentment, satisfaction and acceptance of the present moment ✨
Happiness is impermanent and not a final destination. As a driven person who is known to be a perfectionist, aiming for happiness in my every day can lead to too much striving. By embracing aparigraha (non-grasping) and santosha instead, I’m able to cultivate contentment with all that I have in the here and now. I can begin to enjoy the present moment, the simple pleasures of life: a good cup of tea, cuddling the dogs, watching my trashy tv shows. Santosha helps me to enjoy the space in between where I am now and where I’m going 💫
🌿 When you’re not teaching or practicing, what are you usually up to?
Travelling for pleasure and work in my day job as an anthropologist with First Nations communities, surfing (or trying to), pottering around the house, eating!
➡️ PRACTICE WITH DAISY: You can catch Daisy for Solar Hatha on Thursdays at 6am.
