Last Friday we said goodbye to a very early supporter of Wheelchairs & Stuff. We were working out of a granny flat, only one distributor would supply to us. “Brownie” knocked on our door and offered us access to his company’s product range. Since then, his support was always a great deal more than any other supplier and what we deserved.
During his eulogy the following was relayed -
A new global CEO decided to come Downunder to see how we did things. We were the first people to meet him. They turned up at our front door and our Ken started shouting “Get out of here. I don’t want any of your sh*t stuff. Go away!” Brownie ran up to Ken, grabbed him by the throat and started shaking him in front of a shocked CEO and saying, “Give me an order!” A minute or so later, the CEO recovered, calm and sanity resumed, and some sense of professional interaction occurred. After Ken placed an order and they were about to leave, the CEO asked Ken if there was anything we can do better. The reply was “Get us a better sales rep. This one is bloody hopeless.”
The CEO got a laugh out of it and relayed this experience of how things are done Downunder for extended period on return to the UK.
Brownie (AKA Ken Brown) was always the ultimate gentleman, immaculately presented, carried his briefcase, hated technology and had a great sense of humour.
Our Ken will never be able to thank him enough for the support and laughs he gave.
