When it comes to deep healing and embodied transformation, I see two essential foundations.
Before anything else, these need to be in place.
1. Safety
Without safety, the nervous system cannot process or integrate experience.
Many of our wounds were formed in moments where safety was missing.
Safety can be cultivated through co-regulation: being with someone grounded and attuned, where the nervous system naturally settles.
And through self-regulation: spending time in nature, moving the body, and practicing grounding and breath awareness.
2. Mindfulness
Mindfulness creates space between our pain and our reactivity.
It allows us to gently unblend from our wounded parts, so we can meet them with curiosity instead of reaction.
It’s also what allows new information to be integrated in the present moment, rather than repeating old patterns.
Without mindfulness we may feel, but not necessarily transform.
Safety and mindfulness are not the whole path, but they are the ground.
And without this ground, healing and transformation struggle to take root. 💛
