Heads up- I am taking a break from Social Media.

I’ve had enough of the screen zapping my creativity and my time.
I’m done with the algorithm and what it thinks I need to see.
I’m done with thinking I need to show up in a way I don’t want to.

Generative Boredom is about allowing ourselves to get into a state of boredom where our minds can wonder and creativity can flow- where ideas and visions stream through our consciousness.

For me, that’s a place where instagram and facebook don’t live.

I want boredom.
I want daydreams and visions.
I want a life that is filled with wild and free things- like clouds, birds, butterflies and windy oceans.

I’ve had enough of looking at screens.
They don’t replace human contact.
They don’t replace conversation.
They are not real life.
Everyone with their ‘best faces’ on, doesn’t mean anything to me.

Sit next to me and breathe- that’s all I really need.
Not a cold hard screen telling me I need to be more this and more that.

Always was, always will be Aboriginal Land and Country 🙏🏼

This day does not exist without the terror and annihilation which is the direct result of Colonisation and is still very much felt by and torments our Aboriginal peoples today.

I don’t think it is respectful, caring, compassionate or even humane to celebrate a day that signifies the very beginning of the violent, unrelenting and continuing attempt to destroy the world’s oldest living culture.

There’s still so much Truth Telling and Healing that needs to be done.

If we want to live in peace together, we can’t ignore the pain and trauma that has been inflicted upon our Aboriginal peoples, and still continues on a daily basis.

Celebrating the day it began, needs to stop.

Thinking, pondering, wondering, considering how our Aboriginal brothers and sisters feel this day- taking into account what this day feels like for them and the weight it carries.

How can you love yourself more?
And then some more again.
And again.
And again….

Through my own journey I’ve come to see that I cannot hurt anyone else without also hurting myself.

The more I learn to love myself as I am, forgive myself, hold myself, nurture and care for myself- the more I can forgive others and see where I need to ask for forgiveness.

That forgiveness and need to ask for it then comes from an overflowing heart and a place of love and peaceful rest for who I am and who I have been, not from some place of punishment, power-over or retribution.

For me, the path to truly loving others is through fully and completely loving myself first.

So my daily question to myself is ‘how can I love myself more today? How can I be more gentle, caring and forgiving to Sophia today?’.

For those of us with dysfunctional families, this time of year can suck the most- in so many ways.

It’s taken many years for me and my closest family members to figure out how to do this day in the easiest, least stressful and triggering way possible.
We don’t do what we don’t want to do.
We don’t put huge demands on ourselves.
We don’t spend the whole day together.
If there’s something we want to do by ourselves- we make time for that.
We don’t go overboard.
We keep it calm and low key.
This works for us.

We’ve also spent many years learning to accept the fact that our family is a source of great pain and we have decided to try to grow the love that is there still, within our family. We make time for that love. And we also say no to anything that threatens it.

If this day or time of year is hard for you, please know you are not alone in that.
I wish you luck today and may the force of love be with you and shine into you from all around you.

And remember- you are an adult and it is ok for you to set boundaries to take care of your mental, emotional and spiritual health on this day and at this time of year.
That’s how we parent the wounded parts of ourselves- we set boundaries to keep ourselves safe and nurtured.

May the force of love break through our wounded parts and melt away our pain today.

A happy mess after a late afternoon session 🙏🏼

For some reason, not sure why, but I think that was one of the most deeply connected and gorgeous sessions I’ve ever done 🩵🙏🏼

I often feel like I have received just as much as the table baby 🥰🙏🏼

Yep- it’s that time of year again …..
it’s easy to get overloaded, stressed, hot, bothered and want to hide from the mayhem…

Small spaces of slowness, calmness and quiet in between it all will be what gets us through, in a good way 🙏🏼

Happy Birthday to me! 🩷🥰🩷

Mum birthed me onto this planet 49 years ago today.
In a little house in Palm Beach, Sydney with a big Jasmin bush growing outside 🩵

I was an ‘en caul’ birth or ‘veiled birth’, meaning I was delivered while still inside the amniotic sac.
So I came wrapped up as a little parcel 🥰
This is a very good omen for a sailors daughter and is supposed to mean that I will never drown 🙏🏼🙏🏼

49 years…
I have lived a very colourful and adventurous life.
It’s not been easy and I’ve made plenty of mistakes 🫣

I’ve had my heart broken, and I’ve broken hearts …
There’s some things I’m proud of and like most of us, some things I’m not…

What was important to me in the past is no longer so important. As I grow up and strive to become a fully functional and functioning adult woman, what I want, need, desire and dream for changes.
And to me that’s important- that I can keep on growing, shifting, shedding and expanding.

I’m not the little girl, the teenager or young woman I once was but all of those versions of me, live within me 🩷

It’s my responsibility to love all of them and to hold them when they need to be held. Just like the version of me today needs to be held and will need holding and loving by my older self in years to come🩷🩵

As time goes on and my hair gets more silver, I hope and pray that I am quicker to laughter, quicker to forgiveness, quicker to acceptance and quicker to love 🩷

Thanks mumma for bringing me into this world at 5:30am in that little house, doing a back end over dad and meeting October 26 1976 with a new baby girl 🙏🏼🩷🩵🩷🩵
