👉 Contact us if you need it with https://www.vved.org.au/patients/

Use VVED for non-life-threatening emergencies only. If your situation is life-threatening, please call Triple Zero (000).

Heatwave Warning – Stay Cool, Stay Safe

Extreme heat is dangerous — and it kills more Australians than any other natural disaster.

Heat can affect anyone, but those most at risk include:
• Older people (65+)
• Babies and young children
• Pregnant women
• People with chronic or acute health conditions
• People who are socially isolated

Severe heat can cause heat exhaustion and heatstroke, trigger heart attacks or strokes, and worsen conditions such as kidney or lung disease.

Protect yourself and others by taking simple steps:
✔ Stay cool – use air conditioning or fans, close blinds, wear light clothing
✔ Stay hydrated – drink water regularly, even if you don’t feel thirsty
✔ Avoid strenuous activity during the hottest part of the day
✔ Check in on family, friends, neighbours and anyone living alone
✔ Spend time in cool places like shopping centres or libraries if needed

Know the warning signs and act early — heat-related illness can escalate quickly.

If you need medical advice or someone is unwell:
📞 Nurse-on-Call: 1300 60 60 24 (24-hour health advice)
🏥 See your GP or access Virtual Emergency Care for non-life-threatening concerns

🚨 In an emergency, always call Triple Zero (000).

With UV levels high across our region, it’s important to take steps to protect your skin while enjoying time outdoors.

Remember to slip on protective clothing, slop on SPF 50+ sunscreen, slap on a hat, seek shade, and slide on sunglasses—especially during peak UV hours. Sun protection helps reduce the risk of skin cancer and keeps you safe while staying active.

Look after yourself and those around you by making SunSmart choices every day.
