As the weather begins to warm up, many of us feel a natural pull to spend more time outdoors and get moving again βοΈ
Regular activity not only supports heart health and weight management, but also helps keep joints flexible, boosts mood, and sharpens focus as we move through busy mid-life.
Here's what the Australian Government guidelines recommend per week for the average adult:
πββοΈββ‘οΈ 2.5 to 5 hours of moderate intensity physical activity. Ideas: brisk walk, golf, mowing the lawn or swimming
πββοΈββ‘οΈ 1.25 to 2.5 hours of vigorous intensity physical activity. Ideas: jogging, aerobics, fast cycling, soccer or netballan equivalent combination of moderate and vigorous activities.
πββοΈββ‘οΈ Muscle-strengthening activities as part of your daily physical activity at least 2 days per week. Ideas: push-ups, pull-ups, squats, lunges or lifting weights.
If that sounds overwhelming, remember that every little bit counts! Just 10 minutes of movement spread throughout the day can add up - walking the dog, taking the stairs instead of the lift, or doing stretches during TV ads all contribute.
So as the sun shines brighter, consider this your cue to step outside, take a deep breath, and move in a way that feels good for you π§‘
