❤️ St Emilie ward turned red for Heart Week! ❤️

From decorations throughout the ward to fundraising with pins and pens, the team came together to support heart health awareness in a fun and meaningful way this week.

Caregivers also took part in education sessions across the week, helping build knowledge and spark important conversations around cardiovascular health.

A huge thank you to everyone involved for bringing so much heart to Heart Week! ❤️

At St John of God Murdoch, we recognise the incredible experience and dedication our caregivers bring to our hospital community.

On Monday, we hosted a Planning for Retirement Expo, supporting team members as they begin thinking about their next chapter – whether that means exploring flexible options, or planning for the future.

With support from partners including HESTA, Converge and Maxxia, the event provided information, guidance and opportunities ask questions and learn more about what transiting towards retirement like look like.

We are proud to support our caregivers at every stage of their career journey. Thank you to everyone who came along!

Today is International Day of the Midwife! The theme for this year is 'One Million More Midwives'.

Today, we recognise and thank our wonderfully supportive, dedicated, and skilled midwives and celebrate the important care they provide to our patients and their families every day.

As a token of our appreciation, our midwives were gifted with some hand cream as a reminder for them to care for the hands that care for others.

To our incredible midwives - thank you for all that you do each and every day, and Happy International Day of the Midwife.

Meet Angie, our Nurse Manager of St Michael paediatrics ward 💙

For Angie, nursing is all about balancing critical thinking with compassion - solving complex challenges while making every patient feel safe, heard and empowered.

Her advice for fellow nurses? Be as kind to yourself as you are to your patients. Prioritise your wellbeing and lean on your work family when things get tough.

"They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
We will remember them."

Lest we forget ❤️

Anzac Day marks a moment of deep reflection, as we pause to commemorate all Australians and New Zealanders who have served to protect this great country we call home.
We also take time to acknowledge the ongoing impact of war on returned service men and women, and the significant mental health challenges that so often follow the end of service.

Giuseppe is one of our recent recipients of a Respect Award ⭐

Giuseppe is music therapist and was nominated by a patient's family for bringing joy and happiness to them through his music and beautiful heart. "Your time spent with dad when he was in the hospital had such a positive impact on him and mum. Your connection to the place of his father’s birth, and the wonderful songs that you sang became the topic of conversation with family and friends...It was very special. Thank you for making such a difficult time so special. So very much appreciated," they said.

Well done, Giuseppe! You are an asset to the Murdoch team! 👏

✨ Meet Margot ✨

As we celebrate International Volunteer Year, we’re proud to shine a light on the incredible people who give their time, care and compassion to others - people like Margot.

For Margot, the joy of volunteering comes from the little moments that leave a lasting impression.

It’s these simple, heartfelt connections that make such a powerful difference - not just for our patients, but for those who give their time so generously 💛

Isabella is one of our recent Caregivers of the Month ⭐

Isabella is a nurse and was nominated by a patient for her compassionate care and the way she advocated for them. "I felt she really heard me — all my anxieties, all my worries — and she acknowledged each one. She took time to talk to me, check in on me, and even share her own experiences, which made her feel like more than just a nurse doing her rounds. She wasn’t afraid to speak up to doctors and advocate for what I needed, and I could tell she genuinely wanted her patients to receive the best care. Thank you so much, Bell," they said.

Congratulations, Isabella. You are an asset to the Murdoch team! 👏
