The 10th of October marked Mental Health Awareness Day. 1 in 6 Australians are currently experiencing depression or anxiety or both. Females are more likely than males to experience depression and anxiety. Additionally, this year due to the ramifications of the global COVID-19 pandemic, support services such as Lifeline and BeyondBlue have seen significantly increased demand of their services. Lifeline answered almost 90,000 calls in March, an increase of 25% over the same time last year.

Remember to ask the people around you how they are doing and be ready to continue the process by listening openly, encouraging action and checking in regularly.

If you would like to see someone about your mental health, please book an appoint with one of our GPs. The services listed in the second image can also be approached if you don't feel comfortable seeing a doctor just yet.

The COVIDSafe app is now available!

Wondering whether to download COVIDSafe? Here's some more information about how it works.

COVIDSafe is an app that will aid the Australian Department of Health to slow the spread of COVID-19. It helps state and territory health officials to quickly contact people who may be exposed to COVID-19, by using bluetooth to recognise other users who have been in close proximity with you.

It does not collect information about your location but instead makes note of other users you have been close to, so that in the case of one user testing positive for COVID-19, those they've been in contact with can be easily and quickly notified.

All your information is strictly protected by legislation and can only be accessed for contact tracing purposes by state and territory health authorities.

We highly encourage you to download the app. The more people signed up to it, the easier it is to contain outbreaks and the faster restrictions can be eased while maintaining the safety of Australians.

More information can be found here: https://www.health.gov.au/resources/apps-and-tools/covidsafe-app
