Murgon Local Ambulance Committee

Murgon Local Ambulance Committee Local Ambulance Committees (LAC) are made up of volunteers who take an active interest in supporting ambulance services in their communities.

Attached to ambulance stations of all sizes and in many locations, LACs work side by side with paramedics in their area to provide a direct link to the community. LACs also assist in providing professional development opportunities to staff through fundraising which aids in the purchase of training equipment and also to send staff to various conferences and training programs.

Happy International Paramedics Day to our dedicated team in teal, our colleagues interstate and overseas! πŸš‘πŸ©ΊπŸ’š

At the QAS, our paramedics provide a wide range of care for Queenslanders – whether it be lifesaving interventions to the critically unwell, educating our communities at events or being the reassuring face in scary moments – our paramedics go above and beyond each and every day.

Whatever role they play, we thank our paramedics for providing the best possible care for patients across Queensland.

Yesterday was International Nurses Day. How thankful are we to all our wonderful nurses.

Happy International Nurses Day!

Did you know that here at QAS we have a dedicated group of Mental Health Clinicians and Clinical Nurse Consultants, who provide tailored care and advocacy for patients who may not require an urgent ambulance for their condition?

We spoke to Clinical Nurse Consultant, Rebekah Harding (pictured far right), about what a day-in-the-life looks like for her.

"I'm involved in a variety of things in my day-to-day as a Clinical Nurse Consultant. I'm often conducting patient safety call backs and gathering additional clinical information from a patient who has dialed Triple Zero (000) but may not need an urgent ambulance for their condition, while then supporting them in navigating the health system to find the most appropriate care for their needs.”

β€œMy role also sees me conducting risk assessments where the focus is always on patient safety, as well as case reviews where we can advocate for patients to receive the care they need, in the most efficient time frame possible within the wider health system."

The role of a CNC or MHC in the QAS is crucial and Rebekah shares what makes each day worth it.

"I find it most rewarding when I am able to advocate for a patient and get them to the right care practitioner, in the quickest time frame possible.”

β€œ We play an important part in the multi-disciplinary team making sure the community is safe and patients are getting the care they require."

Please join us in celebrating these incredible nurses who play a pivotal role at the QAS.
