Equine Assisted Learning North Qld Supporting people to discover Personal Awareness, Connection & Authentic relationships in nature. Prior experience with horses is not necessary.

Equine Assisted Personal Development is a unique approach to experiential learning where clients are offered safe experiences with horses for the purpose of learning personal and professional development skills with horses as assistants and teachers in this process. Horses model and teach us about health and life skills including awareness, living in our bodies and authentic, healthy relationships. EAPD can help with a wide range of issues, from life skills, stress management, lifestyle changes, dealing with anxiety, grief, depression, post-traumatic stress and more. I am also passionate about helping nervous riders who may have had a horse related accident, injury, scare or has simply lost their confidence or connection with their horse. This work can be helpful for any age group, family, organisations, individuals and is not gender-specific.

The difference between a Boss & a Leader.

Horses can teach us the difference between being a boss and being a leader.

Leadership comes to you when you become the person who can be trusted to be calm, consistent, safe, fair and kind always.

You cannot appoint yourself as leader,

You are chosen.

We all know that horses heal hearts but this study shows just how horses can alter our bodies.

Recent studies conducted by the Institute of Heart-Math provide a clue to explain the two-way ′′ healing ′′ that occurs when we're close to horses. According to researchers, the heart has an electromagnetic field larger than the brain: a magnetometer can measure the energy field of the heart that radiates from 2.4 meters to 3 meters around the human body. While this is certainly significant, perhaps more impressive than the electromagnetic field projected by the heart of a horse is five times larger than that of a human being (imagine an electromagnetic sphere around the horse) and it can influence straight into our own heart rate.

Horses are also likely to have what science has identified as a ′′ coherent ′′ heart rate (heart rate pattern) that explains why we can ′′ feel better ′′ when we're close to them. Studies have found a coherent heart pattern or HRV to be a solid measure of well-being and consistent with emotional states of calm and joy-that is, we exhibit such patterns when we feel positive emotions.
A coherent heart pattern is indicative of a system that can recover and adapt to stressful situations very efficiently. Many times, we just need to be in the presence of horses to feel a sense of well-being and peace. In fact, research shows that people experience many physiological benefits by interacting with horses, including lower blood pressure and heart rate, higher beta-endorphins (neurotransmitters acting as pain suppressors), decreased stress levels, decreased feelings of anger, hostility, tension and anxiety, better social working; and greater feelings of empowerment, confidence, patience and self-efficacy.~

TAKE A BREAK FROM YOUR MIND.

TAKE A BREAK FROM YOUR MIND.

Morning Mantra: "The vacation we often need is a break from our own mind."
I don't know about you, but I need a break.
From worrying about my business.
From concern over my health.
From the stress of the condition of our planet.
From pandemic induced hyper-concern for those I love.
It's getting to me.
But I also know I am in charge of my feelings.
I can take a break- or 20- and reduce the stress and worry.
I can recharge in nature or at the barn.
I can reconnect with my breath through meditation.
I can Facetime, write love letters, and send care packages.
I can flip the thought patterns that control my emotions from negative to positive.
When there is nothing I can do to change the outside world, I turn to controlling what's inside of me.

💢💢💢Meet my herd.💢💢💢
👉Jewel is a 20 year old Welsh Mountain pony mare. Abbey used to rider her when she was little and now she is happily enjoying retirement.
👉Buddy is a 16 year old Thoroughbred, ex racehorse. Buddy is an absolute gentleman and loves connecting with people.
👉Rosie is a 23 year old Australian Stock horse mare. Still very much young at heart, Rosie's forte is mustering cattle. Her lifestyle is slowing down in her later years now though.
👉Cisco is a 11 year old Warmblood gelding. He has the personality of a giant Labrador. Clumsy, awkward and lovable.
👉Lady is a 13 year old Quarter horse mare. As her name suggests, she is such a lady in every way and loves people making a fuss of her.

I have been very quiet on this page for too long.

I feel like the timing is right for me to start offering Equine Assisted Learning again.

It has been in my heart ever since I began my study with the Equine Psychotherapy Institute back in 2014.

This therapy allows for beautiful opportunities to disconnect from your daily life and reconnect with yourself with the help of the horses and nature.

You can contact me through this page or via phone or email.

Horses model and teach us about health and life skills including awareness, living in our bodies and authentic, healthy relationships. I am passionate about teaching children and young adults strategies that may improve their capability to cope with life challenges. Bullying has bcome a common word among our schools and I believe we need less talk around calling out bullying and more help around teaching kids the skills and tools to manage their emotions and feelings during difficut times. Equine Assisted Personal Development can help with a wide range of issues like developing life skills, stress management, lifestyle changes, dealing with anxiety, grief, depression, post-traumatic stress and more.
