Great insight.
Sahasrara the Crown or Seventh Chakra
Sahasrara is the seventh chakra of the auric field, it is the gateway to cosmic and non-physical realities and represents higher knowledge and the wisdom of our soul. The Sanskrit word Sahasrara means 'thousand' or. 'infinite'. It is the thousand petalled lotus, situated at the top of. the head—where it has a unique relationship with the root chakra, each holding the opposite sides of the chakra system and suspending our energy in physical manifestation where the root chakra holds earth and the crown chakra holds spirit. Sahasrara resonates with the colours purple, white and gold depending from which level of the field you are perceiving it from.
The thousand petals represent the vortices of the chakra where energy moves in and out in 20 layers within the chakra itself. Sahasrara is the terminal point for the Sushumna nadi, or the central energy channel or vertical power current, it is also described as being located within the crown of the head, specifically the fontanel area of the scalp.
The chakra itself metabolises the energy of our knowledge and learning and our connection to how we perceive a higher power, or our connection to spirit. When this chakra is balanced, it enables spiritual growth and we may experience connection with higher, cosmic or universal consciousness. When the chakra is in balance we feel deep serenity and joy because we are able to trust in the universe and live with gratitude and peace.
In the Shri Vidya tradition of Vedic Healing, Sahasrara is seen as the place where the Kundalini Shakti merges with Shiva, or where the individual consciousness meets the divine. It is said that this chakra is the point where immortality can be found. This is because when the Kundalini reaches the level of this chakra, illusions of one's self as an individual dissolves and one experiences samadhi, or pure bliss (yogi’s can train to reach this level of awareness while staying in the body and adepts can leave the body consciously, moving beyond the physical world).
When the chakra is blocked, this equates psychologically to a lack of purpose, feeling disconnected from oneself and the world, confusion, distraction, lack of focus, feelings of isolation, depression, or existential crises, inability to let go of certain attachments or limiting beliefs, and spiritual blockage. If the chakra is overactive our spiritual beliefs may be ungrounded snd have no connection to the physical world, this is why it’s important that the crown and root chakras be connected, so we can bring our spiritual reality into our physical existence.
Sahasrara chakra is not associated with any physical elements or Dhatus. It is beyond the physical realm and is associated with pure consciousness or transcendence and the assimilation of thoughts and beliefs into knowledge of an individual human being. This is the location where our individual knowing connects to cosmic and collective knowledge and can assimilate greater truths. The seed sound for Sahasrara is Om. For all those wanting to learn more about themselves and their spirituality connection to Sahasrara is essential.
