Itās the calm before the storm, a little quieting for us with cyclone Alfred is reminding us of mother natures power.
We are high & dry here at Paperbark, all those years of hunting for where to build the first stage of this funeral home, one thing was at the top of the list.
Out of flood zonesā¦
After the last 2 floods washing through our worlds we could not go through it again, hence we are not in our ideal long term nest & itās why we built the internal fit out in a way that we can take it with us when the next stage arrivesā¦we are high on a ridge line in whatās called the āānewā industrial area of Murwillumbahā¦
We had our busiest day yesterday, the troopy hearse/body moving vehicle is not just a fantasy but a necessity now, life deathing on the Northern River of NSW is fš„·king wild when the waters & winds comeā¦& some people driveways are for dare devilsā¦
Betty & I were out in both vans in convoy tending to all who let go in their homes & nursing homes, the transfer company we work with also had to step in because we couldnāt do it all yesterdayā¦oh & we had a funeral amongst it all!
Now that we are all tucked in, we waitā¦.its eerieā¦between the wind, rain & still moments as this cyclone approaches, it stirs all the thingsā¦
I am now alone here at Paperbark, everyone has gone home so it is I riding this cyclone with quite the motley crew of characters that have travelled on into the vast unknown under our care ā¦
All those years ago watching Six Feet Under (wanting to redesign their layout & colours š) here I am upstairs putting the slow cooker on, deep in a series vortex (Bad Sisters) & will be able to tick off a few odd jobs from the endless to do listā¦oh & keep hunting for a hearseā¦itās time & they are bloody hard to come by, ones that donāt cost a fortune or are dickyā¦anyone got one in the back shed gathering dust?
So to all out there riding this cyclone Alfred tiger, hunker down & snuggle inā¦letās see what he has to show usā¦
