🧠 REDs (Relative Energy Deficiency in Sports) is a condition that affects multiple systems in the body. The tell-tale signs are often a lot more subtle than the obvious signs of being under-nourished (weight loss, fractures, complete loss of menstrual cycle).
🍜 When the body doesn't receive enough fuel from food, it becomes very effective at conserving energy and not allocating much needed resources to non essential functions - calcium from bones and teeth, slowing down thyroid hormones that affect hair growth cycles, breaking down muscle tissue to borrow glucose.
