Free pole walking sessions coming in November!
Alpine Active Exercise Physiology and Equilibre Health are partnering with Alpine Health to bring you free community pole walking sessions.
Following the bushfires earlier this year Alpine Active and Equilibre Health were successful in applying for a community grant from Exercise & Sports Science Australia (ESSA). Finally we can run these events with easing of restrictions.

We have purchased 7 sets of nordic walking poles to come and trial and learn about pole walking in November. These will then be made available to the community to lend from Alpine Health. These sessions are for everyone of all fitness and abilities.

Myrtleford sessions on Friday, Bright sessions on Monday in November.

PM Alpine Active, Alpine Allied Health Hub or call 5729 0500 to register. Must register, limited places available.
Covid and social distancing rules apply.

Want to continue (or start) seeing an Exercise Physiologist during this pandemic (we're looking at you Victorians)... YOU CAN!

Here are the facts:

1) Exercise Physiologists are allied health professionals and these services are deemed "essential" by the government.

2) You can still go to an exercise physiology clinic during this time. Please maintain physical distancing and ensure you don't visit a clinic if you're feeling unwell.

3) Services offered by an Accredited Exercise Physiologist can be accessed online via telehealth. This is a safe and viable alternative for many exercise physiology consultations.

4) Services offered by Accredited Exercise Physiologists are also eligible for medicare rebates. This is true for both face-to-face and telehealth appointments.

It's more important than ever to stay active. If you're living with a chronic condition or injury, your local Exercise Physiologist can help to you exercise safely at home during this challenging time.

Exercise Right week is here and this year's theme is Movement is Medicine.

Physiologically your body is designed to move and some incredible things happen when you move your body.
Your body produces some of its own medicine, endorphins to improve your mood, blood pressure lowering mechanisms, increased glucose uptake from your blood, muscle and tissue repair, maintain osteoblast activity to keep your bones strong and keeps your neurons connected to keep your brain healthy.

All this just from moving your body, talk about bang for your buck, it cost's nothing!!

Low cost, no side affects, broad spectrum medication 🚶‍♀️🚴‍♂️🏋️‍♀️🏊‍♂️💊💰

Whilst I am not seeing face to face clients at Alpine Allied Health Hub (telehealth appts still available), I have been keeping busy at my other job in community rehab in Wodonga delivering online rehab services as well.

Online or telehealth appointments still available at Alpine Active Exercise Physiology and bulk billed if you have a Medicare referral.

The Community Rehabilitation Program is one of many teams at Albury Wodonga Health which have risen to the challenges presented by COVID-19.
The team, including physiotherapist (pictured below right) Lorraine O’Hare and exercise physiologist (below left) Greta Donaldson, seized the opportunity to utilise telehealth facilities to continue providing allied health and nursing assistance to support individuals with chronic diseases.
An example has been the group programs for Pulmonary Rehabilitation and Cardiac Rehabilitation.
These have been transitioned to an online platform, enabling individuals to participate in education, exercise and relaxation sessions from the comfort and safety of their own home.
These clients are some of the most vulnerable members of our community but these programs are well-known to improve participants’ ability to self-manage their condition, improve their quality of life and reduce the risk of future hospitalisations from exacerbation.
The innovative nature to provide these programs virtually has ensured continuity of care has not been disrupted as we strive to optimise the health of the community despite the current pandemic.
