We had some damage during the storm this week. Turned out to be quite costly. Luckily we had our crew to help us out.

The boys don't get a play date too often so we just had to get them together. Making friends can be so challanging for any age, even horses struggle. We often support our young ones with building their social skills and confidence to make healthy friendships.

There has been a lot of miss communication since the NDIS released their list of services they are cutting last October. Initially the term "Animal Therapy' was on the out list. They did not specify what this means and many people were left in limbo or had their funding cut. They clarified they are not referring to animal assisted therapy. Therefore you can keep accessing animal assisted services run by trained allied health professionals.

This has been a very stressful time for us and our clients. However you are still able to refer to organisations that provide AAT as long as they meet the requirements.

Its so important that we educate our children on how to interact with dogs. Even our own dogs are capable of biting. Other things to be mindful of;

🐶 Leave the dog alone when they are asleep or in their bed.
🐶 be calm when a dog seems reactive as running away can activate their pray drive.
🐶 ignore a dog when you first meet them, it gives them time to get to know you and regulate them selves.
🐶 show your palm when you are both ready for a pat, the sholder and side of neck is a safe place to start.
🐶 keep excitement low

So very proud of both boys. This young boy has been wanting to make friends with Sunny a long time. Sunnys not a dog that particularly likes pats from people but they have both worked hard to follow instructions, impulse control and confidence building to get to this point. It was such a beautiful experience for everyone.
