If your child currently receives support from a therapist or allied health assistant from Nambucca Valley Speech Pathology—whether at home, preschool, school, or in a community setting—we’d greatly appreciate a few minutes of your time.

The NDIS have released the Pricing Arrangements and Price Limits, which start on the 1st July 2025.

The biggest change for families is that the NDIS has cut the travel price for allied health therapists to half the therapy rate. There is also a limit on how much travel time therapists can claim.

As a result, many therapists are now working out if they can continue to offer therapy at home, kindergartens, or schools.

The best thing to do is to contact your children’s therapists to ask if they will still travel to you.

ACD is very concerned about this change. It is best practice for children to see therapists at home, kinder, school and other community settings. We know for many children and families it is not possible to get to clinic-based services.

The Role:
As a Paediatric Speech Pathologist, you will:
• Provide assessment and therapy services for children aged 0–12 years.

• Develop individualised therapy plans tailored to each child’s needs.

• Work closely with families, educators, and other professionals to achieve therapy goals.

• Maintain accurate records and contribute to progress reporting.

• Participate in team meetings and professional development opportunities.

About You:

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

• A commitment to evidence-based practice and ongoing learning.

• A current Working with Children Check and valid driver’s license.

Our data from the 2024 Empowering Futures: School Screening Program revealed that 60% of children, aged 4-6 years, in our community are not on track in one or more areas of development, health, and/or school readiness skills. This places the Mid-North Coast as one of NSW’s most vulnerable areas for childhood development and school readiness outcomes. Parents told us they wanted more accessible learning resources, professional support, and guidance to help their children experience a positive and successful school transition. We listened, and here it is:

Our School Ready Program provides:

Evidence-Based Learning Program Pack: A 40-page, evidence-based, interactive Learning Binder with hands-on activities in early literacy, numeracy, problem-solving, communication, motor skills, social-emotional skills, and more delivered straight to your home.

Monthly Guidance from Early Childhood Professionals: Access monthly online Q&A sessions to support your program experience, and access exclusive resources to support you and your child on their learning journey.

Community Connection: Join a private group, facilitated by Young Minds Thrive, to connect with other local families participating in the program, share insights, and build a supportive network and learning village.

It's World Down Syndrome Day.

The 21st day of the 3rd month, was selected to signify the uniqueness of the triplication (trisomy) of the 21st chromosome which causes Down syndrome.
