👁️ World Glaucoma Week | March 8–14, 2026
Glaucoma is known as the “silent thief of sight” — and for good reason. It often has no symptoms in its early stages, yet it is the second leading cause of irreversible blindness worldwide, affecting around 80 million people.
Organised by the World Glaucoma Association, World Glaucoma Week is a global initiative to raise awareness about the importance of regular eye examinations for early detection.
🔎 Did you know?
• About 1 in 200 people aged 40 have glaucoma
• This increases to 1 in 8 people by age 80
• Key risk factors include age, family history, and high eye pressure
Because vision loss from glaucoma is permanent, early detection is crucial. A comprehensive eye exam can identify changes before you notice any symptoms.
This week, encourage your family and friends — especially those over 40 — to book an eye check. Protect your sight for the future.
