Don't forget to move your body over the holiday period! Keep these tips in mind, whether at home or travelling π
1. Integrate movement into daily tasks: Opt for the stairs, walk to the shops instead of driving, or stand up and stretch while wrapping presents. Break up long periods of sitting by getting up every 30 minutes to move around.
2. Organise family activities: Make movement a social event. Plan a family walk after a large meal to aid digestion, play backyard cricket or touch football, or have a living room dance party to Christmas music, have a game of Twister.
3. Utilise "micro-workouts": Squeeze in short, effective bursts of exercise when you have a few minutes. This could include 10 minutes of bodyweight exercises like squats, push-ups, or lunges in your hotel room or at home.
4. Explore your surroundings: Use the holiday as a chance to go for a brisk walk, a bike ride, or a swim at the beach or a pool. Spending time outdoors can also boost your mental well-being.
5. Try low-impact options: Activities like Pilates, yoga, or water aerobics are gentle on the joints while still providing a good workout.
