Most people think being a "supportive friend" means lying to protect feelings.

Here's the uncomfortable truth: Your friend who tells you "you look fine" while you're struggling with your health is actually NOT being kind-they're being complicit in your decline.

I've watched countless members in our
gym who wished someone had been honest with them sooner.

We are lost in our comfort-obsessed culture: real love sometimes requires uncomfortable conversations.

As a coach, I see the devastating consequences when we normalize avoiding difficult truths.

Your metabolic health doesn't care about your feelings.

Your cardiovascular system won't pause its decline because someone was "being nice."

Disease progression doesn't stop for politeness.

The most dangerous lie we tell ourselves is that temporary comfort is more valuable than long-term health.

We've created a society where truth-telling is labeled as "toxic" while enabling destructive behaviors is called "supportive."

Real friendship isn't about making people feel good— it's about helping them become better.

A true friend cares more about your future self than your current comfort zone.

We need to normalize rejecting the delusion that keeps us stagnant.

Living in truth, even when it stings, is the only path to genuine transformation.

Cut off the friends who lie to keep you comfortable— they're anchoring you to mediocrity.

Your health is too important to prioritize diplomatic conversations at the expense of it.

The truth is these people you know are people very close to you and by you not saying anything you are reducing your time with them.

So….

Which friend are you: the one who tells comfortable lies or the one who speaks life-changing truths that actually matter and can change someone’s life forever?

My Story

Hi there, I’m now thinking this would be a good time to introduce myself and to tell you a little bit about my journey to where I am today, now wanting to help people like you to become a better version of yourself.

So I was always the fat kid, not obese, but chubby. My mother told me a story only as I was much older that she always wanted us to have plenty of really nice food available to us as she never had food as a priority in her life growing up…. I took full advantage of that 😊

In my primary school years, growing up in the 80’sand 90’s we were always outside and being active. I was good at sport and gave everything a go so I was never given grief for being chubby. Although we had the Sega Megadrives and the Playstations, the worst punishment for me was being grounded and not allowed outside to play with the neighbourhood kids. Depending on the season, rugby and soccer in winter, or cricket in summer, I would cry at the window watching all the other kids playing in the street.

So I was active but I always ate big portions at meal times as I loved food. I remember always having milo, nesquick, assorted cream biscuits and bread in the cupboard – which were all abused at times in large quantities. In that era it was all about fat being bad so in our house we had low-fat everything… yoghurt, cream, milk… but we now know that when the fat is taken away it has to be replaced with something else to make it taste good, which is sugar, so everyone including my younger self had s**t loads of low-fat dairy.
