Sunday morning Dr Nelum ran a Reverse Fatty Liver Information Morning at Narangba Doctors, and it was incredibly well received with excellent feedback from all who attended.

She covered some key topics, including:
• What fatty liver is and how common it has become.
• Why dietary sugar is the main driver of fatty liver and how it affects the liver.
• The stages of fatty liver disease progression and why it’s important to act early.
• How fatty liver induces insulin resistance and contributes to broader health problems.
• The risks and downsides of non-nutritive sweeteners.
• How much sugar we’re really consuming as a society, especially through soft drinks.
• Practical steps to reverse fatty liver by:
• Eating whole food
• Prioritizing protein (a big “aha” moment for many who realised they weren’t eating enough)
• Choosing low-carb options and embracing healthy fats

She also had an interactive session on reading food labels – a big thank you to nurse Deb for leading that section. This hands-on activity really helped bring the concepts to life.

The juggle is real!
Remember we are now open until 8pm Monday to Friday to help better service our community. We understand that for some people it is difficult to attend appointments mid week during business hours. We have also extended our Saturday appointments to 6pm. So we are ready to see you after Saturday morning sport🏉⚽️🏀🏏, once those first loads of washing are sorted🧦, after the lawn is mowed🏠 or hopefully after a nice long sleep in 😴. FLU VACCINATION 2025 - FLU CLINIC NVMC and ND

Vaccination is a safe and effective way to protect yourself and your family from serious disease caused by influenza.

Influenza vaccines are given each year to protect against the most common strains of the virus.

WE HAVE A NEW DOCTOR

Dr Matthew Sheehy
PhD, BSc, P/G BSc(Hons), BMBS, MRCGP, FRACGP

Matt is a Brisbane-born GP, working in both Australia and the UK. He deals with the full spectrum of non-procedural patient health problems and has interests in elderly and migrant health. Matt obtained his medical degree from the University of Nottingham in 2012, becoming Member of the Royal College of General Practitioners in 2017 and Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners in 2019. He has also held academic posts at Queensland, Monash and Leicester Universities.

We are pleased to welcome Dr. Christian Fuschini to our practice.

Dr. Christian completed his undergraduate degree in Canada and his medical training at the University of Queensland. He brings valuable experience from his time at Bundaberg and Redcliffe hospitals, and he is well-versed in all areas of general practice—including sports medicine.

In addition to his medical expertise, Dr. Christian is an avid athlete, having represented Queensland in men’s ice hockey and played for the Brisbane Lightning in the Australian Ice Hockey League.
