🫀✨ The Lymphatic System of a Griever — 10/30

“When Missing Someone Becomes a Physical Ache”

There is a kind of longing that doesn’t just sit in the heart —
it lodges itself in the body.

When someone you love passes away, the missing doesn’t disappear into the air.
It roots itself in your chest, curls into your breath, and settles inside your tissues like unsaid words and unfinished stories.

Longing is not soft.
Longing is pressure.
It tightens your throat, lives behind your sternum, and wraps around your ribcage like a memory you can’t un-remember.

Your body remembers what your mind tries to forget.

And the lymphatic system — silent, sensitive, honest — feels it first.

🧠 Trauma Replay & the Body’s Memory

When grief resurfaces — a song, a date, a smell, a quiet moment —
your nervous system replays the old scene like a film stuck on repeat.

Your breath shortens.
Your shoulders rise.
Your chest tightens.

And inside, your lymph vessels react.
They constrict.
They slow.
They hold.

Not because they’re weak —
but because your body is trying to protect you from drowning in the emotion.

Trauma replay is not imagination.
It’s your physiology reliving the moment your world cracked open.

💧 What Longing Does Inside Your Body

Missing someone isn’t just emotional.
Longing activates the same pathways as physical pain.

It releases stress hormones that make the lymphatics sluggish.
It makes your chest feel heavy because stagnation builds behind the heart.
It disrupts digestion because the vagus nerve collapses under emotional weight.
It makes your muscles feel tender because fascia tightens when you cry.

Longing is a biochemical event.

Your lymph nodes swell with unprocessed sorrow.
Your breathing becomes shallow, lowering lymph flow by up to half.
Your tissues hold fluid because your body thinks you’re in danger again.

This is why grief feels like bloating, tightness, heaviness, exhaustion.
This is why the body aches when the heart breaks.

🫂 The Body’s Silent Way of Saying, “I Miss Them Too.”

Every time you long for the one who is gone, your body responds as if reaching for them.
As if trying to pull back a moment in time.
As if trying to bring them close again.

Your body is not malfunctioning —
it is remembering.

Because grief is love that has nowhere to go.
And longing is the echo of love searching for the one it can no longer touch.

So when your lymph feels heavy…
when your chest feels full…
when your body aches in waves…

It isn’t weakness.
It is proof that you loved deeply —
and that your body is still carrying the shape of that love.

🔥 TIGHT. STUCK. SORE.

This is why I cup.

Cupping in remedial massage isn’t about leaving marks — it’s about creating space.

Instead of pushing down on tight muscles, I lift the tissue…
✨ increasing circulation
✨ releasing fascia
✨ improving movement
✨ supporting lymphatic flow

It’s powerful for stubborn back tension, shoulders that won’t switch off, and areas that feel chronically tight.

Those circles? Just fresh blood flow doing its thing. They fade. The relief lasts.

Your body doesn’t need more force.
It needs the right technique.

Have you tried cupping yet? 👀

“What is Manual Lymphatic Drainage?”

Many people hear manual lymphatic drainage but aren’t quite sure what it actually is 🤍

MLD is a gentle, rhythmic technique designed to:
✨ Support your lymphatic system
✨ Reduce swelling and fluid retention
✨ Aid post-surgery recovery
✨ Calm the nervous system

It’s not about pressure — it’s about precision, intention, and deep healing.

If your body feels heavy, swollen, or overwhelmed, this could be the support it’s been asking for.

✨ DM me or book online to see if MLD is right for you.

💔 In Loving Memory of Jax

Over the weekend we said goodbye to our beloved Jax, who was more than just our clinic mascot & therapy dog – he was family. 🐾

For so many of you, Jax was there to greet you, bring a smile during treatments, or simply offer comfort with his presence.

He had a way of making every day brighter, and his gentle spirit will be deeply missed by all of us.

Thank you to everyone who gave Jax love, pats, and cuddles over the years – you were his extended family too. 🌿✨

Run free, Jax. You’ll forever be part of our hearts and our clinic’s story. 🕊️🐾

🌸 It’s Women’s Wellness Week! 🌸

This week is all about pausing, reflecting, and honouring the incredible strength and resilience of women—body, mind, and spirit. 💕

Wellness isn’t just about eating well or moving your body—it’s about creating balance in all areas of life. From managing stress and nurturing mental health, to supporting our bodies through changes like perimenopause, pregnancy, or recovery, women’s wellness is unique and deeply personal.

✨ Some gentle reminders for this week:
🌿 Check in with your body – Notice how you’re really feeling, not just how you think you should feel.
🌿 Prioritise rest – Rest is not lazy; it’s necessary for healing and energy.
🌿 Nourish yourself – Food, hydration, touch, movement, and laughter are all forms of nourishment.
🌿 Seek support – Whether it’s through massage, community, or connection, you don’t have to carry everything alone.

At Just Breathe Massage Therapy, I’m here to support women through every stage of life—with treatments that calm, restore, and reset. 🌸

💌 This Women’s Wellness Week, give yourself permission to slow down, to breathe deeply, and to put yourself first—even just for an hour. You deserve it.

💖 How are you prioritising your wellness this week? Share below—I’d love to hear your rituals and self-care practices.

5 Signs You Need a Lymphatic Reset

1️⃣ Persistent Bloating or Puffiness
– Feeling swollen in the face, belly, or limbs? Your lymph may be sluggish.

2️⃣ Heavy or Achy Limbs
– That “dragging” feeling in your arms or legs can mean fluid isn’t moving properly.

3️⃣ Low Immunity or Frequent Illness
– If you’re catching every cold going around, your lymphatic system may need support.

4️⃣ Sluggish Energy or Brain Fog
– A congested lymph system can make you feel tired and mentally foggy.

5️⃣ Slow Recovery After Surgery or Injury
– Swelling and stiffness that lingers could be your body asking for extra help.

⸝

✨ A lymphatic reset through manual lymphatic drainage helps your body clear waste, reduce swelling, and restore energy—so you feel lighter, brighter, and more you.

“Women are often the caretakers, but who’s caring for them?”

We pour so much energy into our families, friends, and careers that it’s easy to put our own needs at the very bottom of the list. But the truth is, you can’t pour from an empty cup.

Caring for yourself isn’t selfish—it’s essential. Your body deserves rest. Your mind deserves stillness. Your soul deserves nurturing.

✨ Massage, meditation, sauna, journaling, even a quiet cup of tea—these aren’t luxuries, they’re lifelines.

When women make their own well-being a priority, they show up stronger, calmer, and more present in every other part of life.

📌 This week, ask yourself: What’s one way I can care for me?

✨ Why we love the infrared sauna ✨
It’s more than just heat — it’s healing. 💛 Infrared warmth works deep in your muscles and joints, boosting circulation, easing tension, and leaving you glowing from the inside out.
Think detox, stress melt-away, skin glow, and pure relaxation — all in one cosy session. 🛋️🌿

For those who like the facts check below! 👇

Infrared saunas are popular because they work differently from traditional steam saunas — instead of just heating the air, they use infrared light to directly warm your body from the inside out. That difference brings a whole list of potential benefits:

1. Deeper tissue heating
Infrared waves pe*****te up to a few centimetres into muscles and joints, so you can get relief for stiffness, soreness, and chronic tension without the air feeling unbearably hot.

2. Increased circulation
Your body responds to the heat by boosting blood flow, which can help carry oxygen and nutrients to tissues — supporting recovery after exercise or surgery.

3. Gentle detox support
Sweating in an infrared sauna may help the body expel small amounts of environmental toxins, heavy metals, and metabolic waste through the skin.

4. Reduced inflammation and pain
Infrared heat may calm inflamed tissues, making it popular with people who have arthritis, fibromyalgia, or muscle injuries.

5. Stress relief and relaxation
The warmth helps lower cortisol levels, relax muscles, and encourage deep rest — much like a warm hug that lasts 30 minutes.

6. Skin health boost
Increased circulation and sweating can improve skin tone, promote a healthy glow, and help clear pores.

7. Lower perceived heat stress
Because infrared saunas run at a lower air temperature (often 45–60°C vs. 80–100°C for traditional saunas), many people find them more comfortable and easier to tolerate.
