Today marks the beginning of National Reconciliation Week 2026. The theme this year is All In, a call for all Australians to commit wholeheartedly to reconciliation every single day.
Reconciliation is not a moment. It is a choice we make, and a responsibility we carry.
Today marks the beginning of National Reconciliation Week 2026.
This year’s theme, All In, asks something simple but powerful of this country: do not stand at the edge of change. Step into it. For Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, reconciliation cannot be measured by words alone. It must be measured in action.
- Action that respects self-determination.
- Action that backs community control.
- Action that shifts power, resources and decisions closer to our communities.
For the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community Controlled Health sector, reconciliation means more than goodwill. It means governments, institutions and partners listening to communities, respecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander leadership, and investing in the solutions our communities have built and led for generations.
ACCHOs show reconciliation in action every day.
- They deliver care grounded in culture.
- They strengthen health and wellbeing.
- They keep families connected to community.
- They prove that when Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people lead, outcomes change.
National Reconciliation Week is a reminder that everyone has a role to play. But real reconciliation asks more than participation.
- It asks for courage.
- It asks for accountability.
- It asks for action that lasts beyond the week.
Truth is the beginning. Action is the test.
Throughout National Reconciliation Week, ACCHOs across the country will be hosting and participating in local events, activities and conversations that bring communities together and strengthen reconciliation in action.
