It's starting to warm up and while for most of us this means looking forward to breaking out the shorts and heading to the beach it also marks the start of TICK season! We cannot implore you enough to make sure your animals are covered for ticks this summer. We are already seeing cases and know all too well the devastation it causes. There are so many options out there!
- Chews
- Spot ons
- Yearly injections
- Collars
They vary in length of coverage and come in all shapes and sizes, please pop in and chat to our friendly staff about an option that will suit you and your family. Let's make sure our pets all make it through this tick season.

Ginger cats get a bad rap! But this boy puts them all to rest. He was a very calm, well behaved snuggle bums with perfect manners (even after we took his most prized possessions). And if you met his Mum and Dad you'd understand why, they couldn't even have breakfast the morning he came in because he couldn't have his. Now that's dedication.

This suspicious young man is Banjo. You can't see it in this photograph but Banjo had a 1.2kg mass on his chest! Luckily this mass was a benign lipoma. While lipomas (fatty lumps) are usually not cause for too much concern they can grow rather large and weigh a ton. Sometimes they can interfere with your pets mobility when they are near a limb for example (like Banjo here had). Well done Banjo, you made it through a long surgery and a hard day with courage and grace. Take it easy!

Not all patients are the same. They all have different personalities and needs. Some want to hide, some want to shout, and there are some who want more than anything else to sit on their blanket in the sink next to you to not feel alone. If it's a sink you need, it's a sink you'll get! Don't worry Millie, we've got your back!

One of our dear regulars have just welcomed this basket of cuteness to their family. They have an older cat who is the master of the house and have been doing a wonderful job integrating young and old. A bonk here and there to put Harley in his place is to be expected. Whenever we have a big change to the home it can affect our pets! Making sure your older pet has a safe place to go to get away from the excitement is important. Monitoring them and their relationship will help avoid any unwanted rivalries and reinforcing positive interactions is a must! Luckily Harley's Mum and Dad are seasoned pet owners and have got this in the bag. Well done!

Lovely Pax here was another visitor in our hospital. She was born with a rather odd toe. Now having odd toes is no crime but it was causing Pax some discomfort. The nail that grew from it misshapen and needed to be removed. She was a very brave girl and went home with a stylish boot (not that she agreed with our fashion choice). We wish you a speedy recovery Pax (you are free to bonk your brother and sister on the head with it FYI)!

Another successful rehoming from Squinty's. She has landed with her bum in the butter and could not have found a more loving home. Ellie we only wish you could have met your big sister Lilly, who is so dearly missed, regardless we know you will find nothing but love with your new family.

Lexi and Sox visited our hospital this week and brightened the place up wonderfully. These beauties came from our very own Nurse Lisa through her charity, Squinty's Hope Foundation. It is so rewarding to see them all grown up and thriving. Who could resist a cuddle with these 2 brave soldiers. Well done kitties! We can't wait to tell Mum how brave you were
