A Caesarean is often described as “healed” once the incision has closed — but for many mothers, recovery feels like it continues long after that. 💛

✨ Healing is the body’s natural process of repairing tissue.

✨ But recovery is something deeper — it’s how you start to feel at home in your body again after birth.

✨ This can include rebuilding comfort with movement, reconnecting with your core and breath, easing tension around the scar, and processing the physical and emotional experience of birth.

✨ Every woman’s recovery looks different, and there is no “right timeline” to feel like yourself again.

✨ Evidence supports the use of gentle rehabilitation, movement, scar support, and ongoing care to help mothers recover well after both vaginal and caesarean birth.

You don’t need to rush it, and you don’t need to do it alone. 💛

Recovery is not just about healing — it’s about reconnecting with your body, gently and at your own pace. 🌼

💖 A different kind of first meeting — and just as powerful.

A Caesarean birth can hold just as much connection, emotion, and meaning. Behind the drape, a baby is still being welcomed with love, anticipation, and open arms.

Birth doesn’t have to look a certain way to be beautiful. What matters is the moment you meet your baby — the shift, the connection, the beginning of everything new.

Every birth story deserves to be seen, supported, and honoured.

Even in the moments you’re holding your baby, your body is still asking for support.

Time can feel limited, but gentle stretches like this can be woven into your day — with your baby right there beside you. A simple kneeling hip stretch can help release tension, improve mobility, and create a sense of ease through the hips and lower back.

These small, intentional moments aren’t just about movement — they’re about supporting your recovery in a way that feels manageable and sustainable.

It doesn’t have to be a full session. Just a few mindful movements throughout the day can help you feel more comfortable, supported, and connected in your body again. 🤍

It’s very common to notice a small shelf or overhang above your C-section scar after birth. This can happen due to scar adhesions, changes in connective tissue, swelling, and the way the abdominal muscles and fascia heal after surgery.

The good news is that there are gentle, effective ways to support healing and improve the appearance and function of the area.

Here are a few things that can help:

✨ Scar Massage and Release Work
Once your incision has fully healed, gentle scar massage can help improve tissue mobility and reduce adhesions that may contribute to pulling or folding above the scar.

✨ Desensitisation Techniques
Light touch and texture work can help calm nerve sensitivity around the scar and improve comfort with movement and touch.

✨ Core and Breathing Exercises
Diaphragmatic breathing and gentle core activation can support the deeper abdominal muscles and help restore functional support to the area.

✨ Postural Awareness
Alignment of the pelvis, rib cage, and spine can influence how the abdominal tissues sit and function throughout the day.

✨ Patience with Healing
Scar tissue continues to remodel for many months, and sometimes years, after surgery. With the right support, positive changes can still occur long after birth.

Every scar and every body is different, so there’s no one-size-fits-all approach 🤍

If you’d like guidance with scar care, bodywork, and recovery exercises after a C-section, I offer personalised treatments to support healing and restore comfort in your body.
