My last funeral service was streamed to an audience including people in Europe. It helps connect those who are unable to attend.

A great answer to a commonly asked question…

Do we have to use a funeral director to conduct a burial?

No! You do NOT have to use a funeral director, you can:

▪ keep a person at home after death
▪ take a body home from hospital, an Aged Care Facility or the coroner
▪ build your own coffin
▪ sew your own shroud
▪ dig and back-fill the grave (with cemetery permission)

Some sage advice…

🌿 One small thing that can help — today.
When someone with dementia asks for a person who has died — a parent, a spouse, a friend — it can feel impossible to know what to say.
The instinct is often to correct them: "Mum, Dad died years ago."
But for someone living with dementia, that correction lands as fresh grief — again and again and again.
"𝘕𝘰 𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘵𝘰𝘭𝘥 𝘮𝘦. 𝘐 𝘥𝘪𝘥𝘯'𝘵 𝘨𝘦𝘵 𝘵𝘰 𝘴𝘢𝘺 𝘨𝘰𝘰𝘥𝘣𝘺𝘦."
Instead, try stepping into their reality: "Tell me about them. Where did you meet? What do you love most about them?”
You're not lying. You're meeting them where they are — with warmth, and without pain.
This is just one of the many small, powerful shifts that can make the dementia journey feel less like chaos and more like connection.
Save this for when you need it. And if you'd like more guidance like this, follow LavenderSage — or reach out anytime. 💜

A much needed service!

A much needed service!

I get asked this a lot — what exactly is a dementia doula, and where do I fit in? 🌿
A dementia doula walks alongside the person living with dementia — and the families and friends who love and care for them.
Dementia touches everyone in its orbit. The diagnosis, the changes, the uncertainty — it can leave families feeling lost, grieving, and exhausted, often all at once.
My role is to offer calm, compassionate support that works alongside the clinical care already in place — filling the human gaps that the medical system doesn't always have time for. I help families understand what's happening, prepare for what may come, and find steadiness in the day-to-day.
I'm here to listen, to guide, to advocate, and to support. Think of me as a knowledgeable, caring presence — someone who's been this way before and can help light the path.
Have questions about what a dementia doula does? Drop them in the comments or send me a message. 💜

Kaz Hamilton and I were so proud to be part of the launch of the Dead End Coffee Club Dubbo at the Orana Every Woman Festival on 3 March.

We can never have enough opportunities to talk about end of life issues.

Grateful to Social Gain for including the event as part of the festival.

A “last ride” motorcycle es**rt was a special feature at a recent graveside service in Narromine.

The lead rider spoke of his great honour es**rting a much loved family friend on his last journey, as that person had introduced him to motorcycles as a child.

What a beautiful way to say goodbye.
