After spending 2 hours wrangling these boys (if you watch Clarkson’s Farm Noah and his mother were definitely not the acomplished farmers in the ‘Camp Carr’ epidode of sheep wrangling 101) we managed to get them into the trailer. We had numerous escapees and the resident farmer will possibly be chowing down on several packs of voltarin to ease his half a century aches and pains.
Now let’s see if Evangeline makes an honorable mention in the Shepp Sales tomorrow!

Tomorrow we Rock Our Socks for World Down Syndrome Day! Come and join us by wearing bright, colourful socks to start a convo with others. When they ask what the go is, tell them you’re wearing them for Maisie and for all people who have Down Syndrome. Google an interesting fact about DS and share it with others. We are calling on our village to stand in solidarity with us to raise awareness around Down Syndrome tomorrow. Feel free to show us your socks!

We are still chatting away to our good friends at the shire, however while we continue our conversions things are happening inside. We often have to steel ourselves to remember that to breathe new life into something we need to allow the process to happen.

We’ve been a bit quiet currently as we sort a few things out with our friends at the shire. However what we won’t be quiet about is National Carers Week! Evangeline House has a vision and mission that we haven’t revealed, but in a nutshell service to others is what we are about. Yesterday we commenced Carers Week across the nation. It’s great that it falls in the month of October, while we advocate for DS.
Being a carer is the most rewarding and exhausting role in life. There are so many things that others have no idea of when you are a carer.
From the perspective of a woman the biggest impact on my life of being a carer has been on my career. I consciously stepped back to be able to serve my children, as I have served other parents children for many years. I’m in the business of families and it was time to put my kids and their needs first.
I’m a big advocate for carers and also young carers, as I was also a young carer. If you’ve got a young carer in your household, or you are a carer and you’ve got no idea of what’s available to support you or your kids let me know. Bursary’s and scholarships for young carers are a well kept secret….and my specialty!

We have jellyfish tentacles hanging from the ceilings! Ash Holland and his team at Waaia Electrics have been hard at work this week. We’ve discovered that the floors in the past have been ripped up to run electricity through the house before, as in 1891 there was no electricity in the house.
