OT in Psychiatry and Mental Health 6th Ed
Early intervention for young children at-risk for Mental Health Disorders. It is a great honour to have my updated Chapter included in the latest edition of this textbook for OT students. So often OTs are the first professionals to whom parents turn when they have concerns about their infants and toddlers. My aim was to give young OTs a synopsis of the research around this topic and tools to support parents, to enable them to address challenges as soon as possible.

Of course all parents are concerned about their child’s safety… however we cannot be their guardian angel for ever. In my view the best thing we can do is to build each child’s sense of self, so they can navigate their world safely and confidently. By pointing out potential pitfalls and giving your child the opportunity to think about possible solutions before there is a crisis they will gain the confidence that they can make safe choices.
