OptiCentre is an independent, boutique optometry practice that has been established for over 15 years. At OptiCentre it is important to us that you feel comfortable and looked after. We provide vision assessments, including retinal photography, and help with choosing and fitting your glasses. We also have extensive experience in the fitting and care of all types of contact lenses, as well as affordable and designer glasses and sunglasses. Feel free to come in to our practice and have a look at our range of glasses, sunglasses and accessories. We can also help with repeat ordering of your contact lenses and can even post them out to you. We are open Monday to Friday from 8am to 5pm and are looking forward to seeing you here.

June is Cataract Awareness Month, so we thought we'd take the time to raise awareness about this common eye condition. Cataracts affect around 50% of Australians over 65, and is the leading cause of blindness worldwide. To put it simply, a cataract is a 'clouding' of the eye's lens, making it more difficult for light to pass through.

May is Macula Month, so we thought we'd take the time to shine a light on macular disease.

The most common macular diseases are age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and diabetic eye disease, including diabetic retinopathy and diabetic macular oedema. Macular disease is the leading cause of blindness and severe vision loss in Australia, affecting an estimated 1.9 million Australians.

You can have early signs of macular disease without knowing it. However, when symptoms do appear, they can include:
- Difficulty reading
- Vision distortion
- Dark patches in the central vision

If you notice any of these symptoms, you should come in to OptiCentre for an eye exam. Early detection and prompt intervention are crucial to saving sight. Together, we can raise awareness and make a difference!
