Last night, sound and breath opened a doorway.

For some, it was a release of old pain and trauma held for years.

For others, a journey through colour, light, and a profound sense of being held.
For many, a quiet remembering of power, worthiness, and the truth beneath old stories of not enough.

No two journeys were the same.
Only the body unfolding in its own time, in its own way.

This is what happens when we slow down enough to listen.

When safety is created, and healing is allowed, not pushed.

If something in you is calling for rest, release, or remembrance,
future Sacred Sound & Breath Journeys are coming soon.

You’re warmly welcome.

Bookings are open for the next one on Saturday 21st Feb. I can't wait!

Confession time.

For a long time, I thought my intense focus on food and my body was a sign that I had a healthy connection with my body.

I was wrong - it was a coping strategy.

When life felt out of control, grief, loss, stress, big transitions, my nervous system grabbed onto the one thing it could manage. Food. Health. “Doing the right thing or focusing on dealing with the food blow outs.”

And honestly?
It worked.
Until it didn’t.

Nervous system and somatic work taught me this:

👉 Many habits we have (the ones we'd like to change) aren’t the real problem.
👉 They can be protection strategies.
👉 They kept us functioning when feeling wasn’t an option or the feelings were too big.

So no, you’re not broken.
You’re not weak.
And you don’t need another rule, plan, or reset.

Sometimes the real work is feeling safe enough to stop managing and controlling everything.

This is why I created the Get Nourished 6 week holistic health challenge. To help people establish true connection with their bodies and build a strong relationship with themselves so controlling or out of control behaviors fall away. The waitlist is currently open.

Is chocolate really as addictive as co***ne? 🍫🧠
That’s a claim that’s been repeated so often it feels like fact.

But when researchers (including Kevin Hall) actually measured dopamine in the human brain, sugary foods didn’t create a drug-like “high.”

So why does chocolate feel so regulating?

Because it’s not acting like a drug.
It’s acting like a regulator.

Chocolate engages multiple calming pathways at once:
• sensory soothing (taste, texture, melt)
• fast energy availability (safety signal to the body)
• endogenous opioid pathways, your body’s own comfort chemicals
• learned emotional relief from past experiences

That “ahhh” feeling isn’t addiction chemistry.
It’s relief.

Most people aren’t eating chocolate to feel amazing 🤩
they’re eating it to feel less overwhelmed or to escape emotional pain.

When food becomes the only reliable regulator, it can feel compulsive.

Not because you’re broken or have an "addictive"" personality but because your nervous system learned what worked.

This is why shame, restriction, and “good vs bad” food rules often make things worse… not better.

Understanding what food is doing for you creates choice.
Regulation before restriction.
Compassion before control.

This is the sad truth, I always share with my clients that Relaxation in the age we live in of chronic stress, is a skill to be learned.

This event is an opportunity for your nervous system to take
A pause.
A breath.
Soften and let go.

Next Saturday night, January 24, I’m holding a Sacred Sound Healing & Transformative Breathwork Journey, a space designed to help you unwind from the week, quiet the mental noise, and settle your body back into calm.

Many people arrive feeling:
• overwhelmed
• wired but tired
• emotionally full
• stuck in their head

And leave feeling:
• calmer
• grounded
• lighter
• clear and centred

This isn’t about fixing yourself or pushing through.
It’s about creating the right conditions for your nervous system to feel safe, so your body can naturally release what it’s been holding.

If you’ve been craving rest that actually lands in your body…
this might be your sign.

✨ Saturday 24 January
🕕 6:00–8:30pm
✨ Sacred Sound Healing & Transformative Breathwork Journey

Come as you are.
Leave calmer.

I have 2 spots left.

The best advice I give new gym members (that I use myself):

👉 Don’t go gung-ho and burn yourself out.

Consistency isn’t built on motivation highs.

It’s built on steady momentum.

Start small. Start doable.
And most importantly, choose something you actually enjoy (or at least don’t dread).

Maybe it’s a group class because the people are welcoming.

Maybe it’s yoga because it makes you feel connected and centred.

Or maybe, like me, it’s my daily walk. I call it my Wisdom Walk, where I walk and listen to a lecture or lesson on something I’m studying.

You’re not always going to feel like doing it.
But if there’s an aspect you look forward to, showing up becomes easier.

This photo is me this morning with one of my boys.

I thought I’d be a dance mum… turns out I’m a mountain biking mum 🚵‍♀️

I even nailed a trick today to impress my 8-year-old.
He wasn’t impressed. He said it "looked lame"!!
But I was, and honestly, that counts 😅

Build habits that fit your life.
Not ones you have to force.

Slow > steady > sustainable

This story cracks me up every time I read it! At a recent family reunion, I spotted my cousin’s wife straight away but I couldn’t see my cousin anywhere.

I asked her, “Where’s Brett?”
She laughed and said, “You probably don’t recognise him.”

You see, Brett had dreadlocks for over 40 years. Long ones. Some reached past his bottom, almost to the backs of his knees.
And recently… he decided to cut them off.

But not all at once.

Every Monday, he took the scissors and cut off one dreadlock.
Just one.

One Monday happened to be a public holiday so he didn’t cut one that week.
A day off. I found that hilarious.

And that’s the thing…
The change wasn’t shocking.
Not to him. Not to his system.
It happened gradually, over time.

Yet when it comes to diet or lifestyle change, most people try to cut everything at once.
All the dreadlocks.
Cold turkey.
New rules. New routines. New identity, overnight.

And the nervous system says, “Absolutely not, this doesn't feel safe.”

So we revert.
Back to the familiar.
Back to old patterns.

Sustainable change doesn’t need to be dramatic.

Sometimes it’s one small shift a week…
Until it feels normal.
Natural.
Safe.

One dreadlock at a time.
