Rachel Whitton’s counselling approach is warm and non-judgmental. Rachel works from a range of counselling frameworks to ensure she can provide each person with a counselling session that meets their individual needs. She uses predominantly Narrative Therapy and Solution Focused Therapy and is Trauma-informed in her practice. This means Rachel understands the way memories of trauma are stored in the brain and in the body. She works to ensure that you feel safe, listened too and valued so that your sessions can bring healing and closure to the trauma you may have experienced as a child and/or as an adult. She works with you to focus the counselling sessions on the things that matter to you and what you feel you need.
Rachel holds a Master of Counselling and a degree in Behavioural Science (Psychology). Rachel worked in the Child-Protection field for a number of years and enjoyed supporting those who care for children in the Foster Care System. Rachel is a qualified and registered professional counsellor with the following Counselling Membership Associations: Christian Counsellors Association Australia (CCAA) and Psychotherapy and Counsellors Federation of Australia (PACFA).
Rachel works in multiple locations: *Online sessions available if you prefer due to COVID-19*

- Brisbane (at Gateway Counselling and Wholeness Center in Mackenzie)
- Online sessions via Zoom can be booked - Please notes that due to COVID-19 all sessions are currently being hosted online or over the phone. Rachel is a counsellor who has a passion for assisting others during times of crisis and healing. She believes that everyone has their own unique knowledge, skills and abilities which they use to navigate through life. Sometimes talking about life's hurdles, darkness and difficulties with an experienced professional can help clarify the path needed to move forward. Change is inevitable. Harnessing this change can be challenging when you are overwhelmed. Counselling can help you discover strategies and tools needed to find the path that will take you to where you are meant to be... Take that first step!
