Our residents enjoyed a lovely picnic outing to Merrimu Reservoir.☀️

Surrounded by beautiful scenery and fresh country air, it was a wonderful opportunity to relax, connect and take in the peaceful surroundings. Residents shared laughs, enjoyed a picnic together and made the most of the sunshine.

Outings like these are a great way to support wellbeing, encourage social connection and create meaningful moments outside of the home.

A big thank you to our team for making the day so enjoyable for everyone involved.

Celebrating a very special milestone with our team 💛

The other week, we hosted a beautiful baby shower at our New Gisborne facility to celebrate two of our amazing staff members as they prepare to welcome their little ones.

It was a warm and joyful occasion, bringing residents and team members together to share in this special time. Residents and staff enjoyed getting involved in activities and helping prepare thoughtful gift baskets, creating plenty of smiles and laughs along the way.

Moments like these reflect the strong sense of community within our home, where we come together to support and celebrate one another.

Last week, we had a very special visitor bring plenty of smiles to our residents at our New Gisborne home 🐴

Peanut the pony stopped by for a visit, creating a wonderful opportunity for residents to connect, reminisce and simply enjoy the moment. For many, it sparked fond memories of past experiences with animals and life in the country, while for others it was a chance to enjoy something a little different in their day.

Animal visits like this can have a powerful impact, helping to lift mood, encourage social connection and create meaningful moments of joy.

A big thank you to Peanut and her handler for making the visit so memorable for everyone involved.

Over the weekend, we gathered as a community at our New Gisborne Residential Aged Care Facility to honour and reflect on the service and sacrifice of those who have served our country.

We were privileged to recognise several members of our community who played a meaningful role in the service.

Joan Turner laid the wreath in honour of her late husband, John, who served in the Australian Air Force.

Resident John Bowhill delivered a reading. John served in the Royal Air Force through National Service in England.

David Parrôt, a resident within our community, served as Master of Ceremonies. David served in the Vietnam War in 1968 with the Australian Army.

We acknowledge Gayle Moore, who shared her family’s history of service. Her father-in-law served in World War II, her uncle served in the Boer War in South Africa, and her great-uncle served in World War I.

We were also honoured to hear from Jayden, a local Army Cadet, who delivered a reading as part of the service. Jayden aspires to serve, drawing inspiration from his family’s military history. Jayden appreciated being included in the ANZAC service and the opportunity to connect with our residents.

We extend our sincere thanks to all who have served, and to those who continue to carry their legacy.

Lest we forget. 🌺

Previously, supports like personal care, including showering, were often treated as non clinical services. This meant many older Australians paid out of pocket for everyday care at home.
That is now changing.

Upcoming aged care reforms are recognising personal care for what it is, fundamental to health, safety and dignity. By reducing these costs, the changes aim to improve access to care and ease financial pressure for those wanting to remain living safely at home.

Regular support with personal care also plays an important role in identifying early signs of health concerns, supporting timely intervention and better outcomes.

While expected to take effect from October, this reflects a broader shift toward a more person centred and equitable aged care system.

If you would like to understand how these changes may affect you or your loved one, our Support at Home team is here to help.

Celebrating an incredible milestone for our very own Graham at our Residential Aged Care in New Gisborne 🎉

On 10 February 2026, Graham turned 100 years young! He has been part of our family since July 2024, and we feel so lucky to share this journey with him.

To make the day even more special, the local RSL visited and presented Graham with a certificate, honouring and thanking him for his service in the Australian Air Force during WWII. He also received a letter from the King, something truly special to mark such an amazing life and contribution.

Happy 100th Birthday, Graham 💙
