❗️Sensitive Content: Discussions on Weight and Body Mass Index

We’re excited to invite all of our NEW1000 participants, past and present, to participate in our research focus group 🤰

This research aims to explore how women feel about weight and height measurements during pregnancy.

💡Do these measurements affect pregnancy and birth experiences?
💡 Was “Body Mass Index” ever discussed with you while you were pregnant?
💡Were your experiences good, bad or neutral?

We would love to hear your thoughts and opinions, so that we can shape our research based on YOUR real-life experiences.

Express your interest in this focus group here:

Today, November 17th is World Prematurity Day.

If you have been involved with the NEW1000 Study, you would know how passionate we are about reducing the prevalence of Preterm Birth.

Every year, 13.4 million babies are born premature worldwide, and these babies can face serious, lifelong health challenges. Preterm birth is truly a problem that can happen to any one of us, irrespective of the country we live in or our culture or socioeconomic status.
Understanding the causes of preterm birth is the first step to defeating it. Preterm birth rates could be significantly reduced with targeted screening and preventive care early in pregnancy.

At NEW1000, Professor Pennell’s research focuses on the role of genetics and transcriptomics using a precision medicine approach to identify families that are at the highest risk of preterm birth to give them the opportunity for early prevention.

We are SO EXCITED to announce that Stage 2 of the NEW1000 Study is now underway! 🎉

Time has just flown since we started the NEW1000 Study in 2022, and it blows our minds to think that many of our Stage 1 “babies” are now busy toddlers.

Stage two is focused on growth, health and development during this transition from baby to toddler. We’re aiming to broaden our understandings of how pregnancy, birth and the first few months of life influences this important life stage.

If you’ve been involved with Stage 1 of the NEW1000 Study, keep an eye out for emails from us over the next couple of months. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us via email or through our website!
