This Saturday's doctor is Dr Gonzalo De Angulo 😃

Dr Gonzalo De Angulo (MD, MBBS, FRACGP) completed his medical degree at Universidad del Cauca in Colombia. Before undertaking general practice training, he moved to Sydney where he worked for nine years as a helicopter paramedic with the Westpac Lifesaver Rescue Service. He later relocated to Tasmania and completed his RACGP training in Smithton and the Derwent Valley, gaining fellowship in 2019. He holds admitting rights at the New Norfolk District Hospital.

He enjoys all aspects of general practice, with particular interests in chronic disease management, diabetes care and supporting patients with healthy weight management. Outside of work, he enjoys the outdoors and spending time with his family.

This Saturday's doctor is Dr Charles Rose!

Dr Charles Rose (MBBS, FRACGP) completed his medical degree at the University of Tasmania in 2016 and obtained his Fellowship in General Practice in 2023. Before moving into general practice, he spent five years at the Royal Hobart Hospital, working across various medical and surgical specialties.

Dr Rose has an interest in preventative health, sports medicine, chronic disease management (particularly diabetes and weight management), and workers’ compensation. He values a patient-centred approach – developing practical, achievable health goals in partnership with his patients.

He is currently completing a Graduate Diploma in Sports Medicine and provides medical coverage for various sporting organisations, including Cricket Tasmania and AFL Tasmania.

🎓Huge Congratulations to Dr Samantha Gibson-Smith & Dr Lester Pepingco!

Both have just graduated with distinction from the Master of Medicine (Skin Cancer) at UQ. This achievement means the Derwent Valley Skin Clinic is now the only clinic in Tasmania where all our skin cancer doctors hold a Masters-level qualification in addition to their specialist FRACGP qualification.

We’re proud to offer our community the very best in skin cancer diagnosis and treatment, backed by advanced training and state of the art equipment.

We’re incredibly proud to have Dr Gemma Dwyer providing women's, reproductive, and sexual health services here in the Derwent Valley.
Dr Dwyer recently presented at the Tasmanian Reproductive Health Conference on building women's health services in New Norfolk. Her talk was so well-received that Professor Danielle Mazza from Monash University commented she wished it had been recorded!
It’s a huge privilege to have such passionate and skilled doctors serving the Derwent Valley community.

In collaboration with The Link Youth Health Service, Dr Gemma Dwyer will be providing a once off bulk-billed (no out of pocket cost) clinic for high school aged students aged 12 to 19yo next Monday afternoon. New patients from the Derwent Valley high schools welcome! These will be single, brief appointments. You can present by yourself and wont need your parent present if you prefer. Protect yourself this flu season! We're offering free government-funded flu immunisations for eligible individuals, including:
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people aged 6 months and older
- Children aged 6 months to under 5 years
- Pregnant women at any stage of pregnancy
- Adults aged 65 years and older
- Individuals aged 6 months and older with certain medical conditions such as cardiac disease and chronic respiratory conditions
For those not eligible for a free vaccine, we offer private flu immunisations at just $20.

DVMC is seeking a part-time practice nurse.

We are looking for a nurse to work alongside our current team of three nurses. This role is temporary and flexible to provide maternity leave cover with a 3-6 month contract available.

Training and induction provided
Days: Monday & Tuesday (900am - 5pm)
Immediate Start
No weekend, evening or public holiday work required

The Role
- We are looking for an EN or RN. You will be caring, compassionate and empathetic in your approach to people and a excellent communication skills.
- Experience in a similar role is desirable but not necessary as we will provide training and induction.
- You are skilled at remaining calm in highly tense situations and have the ability to resolve matters pragmatically.
- You are looking for work-life balance and a team of friendly and supportive nurses, doctors and administration staff to work with.

Key Responsibilities
Reporting to, and with the support of, the Practice Manager, you will be a vital member of the team in contributing to the success of the Practice, with key responsibilities entailing:
- Wound Management
- Immunisations
- Procedures (skin cancer clinic and women's health clinic)
- Health Assessments and Chronic Disease Management
- Treatment Room & Stock Management
- Triage
- Infection Control
