Sarah will be the MC for this amazing event between National Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Women's Alliance and Hatchery. NATSIWA members receive discounted tickets and an EOI will be out shortly fully funded places at the conference for NATSIWA members.
Sarah will also host a half day workshop focusing on emerging leaders and how to move from accidental to intentional and purposeful leadership!

At NATSIWA, we see every day the strength, knowledge and influence First Nations women bring to communities, organisations and future generations. Supporting and elevating this leadership is critical to creating real, lasting impact.

We are proud to partner with The Hatchery on the First Nations Women UNLIMITED Leadership Summit, taking place 20โ€“21 May in Meanjin, Brisbane and online. This summit creates a culturally safe, women-centred space where First Nations women can come together to connect, share knowledge and strengthen their leadership pathways.

Erasing our flags, erasing our Welcomes, erasing our prescence in public events will not and cannot erase that the country we now all call Australia always has and always will have a Blak history.
My people, our people, welcomed our colonisers in 1788 and whilst it did not have the best outcome for us, we still continue to offer the same Welcome, the same blessing, to share Country with us.
Our culture is not built on division but on Caring for Country.
Our Dreaming, our ways, our spirituality, always was, always will be, linked to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander land.

Today is the 17th Anniversary of the National Apology to the Stolen Generations. Sadly the Apology was not the catalyst for meaningful intergenerational change:

Despite Kevin Ruddโ€™s apology Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children are still grossly over-represented at every stage of the child protection system. In 2023, across Australia 43.7% of children aged 0โ€“โ 17 years old in out of home care were Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander โ€“ an increase of 3.7 percentage points since 2019.

The Healing Foundationโ€™s report, Are you waiting for us to die?โ€™ โ€“ The Unfinished Business of Bringing Them Home, released today, found only 6% of the recommendations from the National Inquiry into the Separation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children from Their Families 1997 (the Bringing Them Home report) โ€“ to support Stolen Generations survivors and their families โ€“ have been clearly implemented.
