Forgiveness is the choice to let go of anger, hurt, or resentment caused by someone else. It doesn’t mean you forget or say what happened was okay, but means you’re choosing to stop carrying the heavy emotional weight that can keep your mind stuck in stress, anxiety, or sadness. When you forgive, you’re less likely to feel overwhelmed by anger or resentment, which can drain your energy, make it harder to focus or sleep, and affect how you think and feel day to day.

When you forgive, you free up mental energy to focus on positive experiences and personal growth instead of dwelling on past hurt. This can help improve your mood, build resilience, and boost your self-esteem. While forgiveness is often a slow process that takes patience and support, it ultimately helps you regain control of your emotional health and find greater peace in your life.

Compassion fatigue is the emotional and physical exhaustion that can happen when you’re regularly supporting others through pain, distress, or crisis. Over time, constantly caring for others, whether in your job or personal life, can leave you feeling drained, numb, or overwhelmed.

You might find yourself feeling detached, more irritable than usual, or less able to empathise, even though you still care. Sleep, concentration, and mood can all be affected. At work, this might look like avoiding certain tasks, feeling cynical, or struggling to stay motivated. It’s common in roles that involve helping others, especially when there’s little time to rest or process what you’re carrying.

If this sounds familiar, support is available. Remember you can speak confidentially 24/7 with our qualified counsellors by calling 1800 554 654, or messaging us on WhatsApp at +61 439 382 204 or on Facebook Messenger.

Have you heard of "executive dysfunction"? Executive dysfunction is when the brain struggles to manage everyday tasks like planning, organising, starting things, or switching between activities. This can happen alongside mental health issues like depression, anxiety, PTSD, or prolonged stress.

When your mind is overwhelmed or constantly on high alert, it can be harder to concentrate, manage time, follow through on tasks, or even remember what you were doing. This can affect daily life, including at work. You might find it difficult to start projects, meet deadlines, keep track of tasks, or stay focused in meetings, even when you're trying your best.

If this sounds familiar, know that reaching out for support can make a real difference. You can speak confidentially with our qualified counsellors by calling us on 1800 554 654, or messaging us on WhatsApp on +61 439 382 204 or on Facebook messenger.

Moral injury happens when something you do, see, or take part in goes against what you believe is right, causing strong feelings of distress. This often arises in challenging situations where choices feel impossible or outcomes are painful. For example, you might face moral injury at work when you can’t provide the support someone needs, witness harm you feel powerless to stop, or are asked to act against your personal ethics.

The effects on mental wellbeing can be severe, leading to feelings of shame, anger, or disconnection from yourself and others. Because moral injury impacts your core beliefs and sense of self-worth, it can be especially hard to heal, affecting how you cope, trust, and find meaning in life.

Talking with someone who understands moral injury, like our counsellors, can make a big difference in finding peace and moving forward. Remember you can speak confidentially 24/7 with our qualified counsellors by calling 1800 554 654, or messaging us on WhatsApp at +61 439 382 204 or on Facebook Messenger.
