It's Diabetes Awareness Week! Did you know that diabetes can affect your eyes?

Diabetes can lead to serious eye conditions like macular edema and diabetic retinopathy - both of which can cause vision loss if untreated. Both Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetes also increases your risk of developing glaucoma and cataracts.

Managing your diabetes and having regular comprehensive eye exams are key steps to protect your sight. If you have diabetes, don’t wait for symptoms; early detection and treatment can save your vision.

Take care of your eyes, and encourage your loved ones to do the same this Diabetes Awareness Week.

Why should YOU choose us for your eyecare? You're an individual! We have personally hand-selected every one of our 500+ optical frames, and our selection is unique in Australia. We don’t stock “chain store” frames because we know you have better taste than that! If you wear progressive (multifocal) glasses, we provide you with the latest lens designs for easier adaptation and larger clear zones, not older designs which are cheap but harder to get used to. You won't be served by salespeople with monthly targets - you will be served by fully qualified Optical Dispensers who can actually answer your questions and recommend the best solution for you. We won't try to talk you into a product you don't need, because we don't have a 'bonus' or 'commission' system, and we don't use 'bait & switch' advertising. Your eyes will be tested by clinical optometrists who know how to do a lot more than just test you for new glasses. We practice behavioural optometry (children's vision & learning), therapeutic optometry (prescription eyedrops), and we fit all types of contact lens including soft, disposable, rigid (RGP) , keratoconus, miniscleral, and orthokeratology.

Last but not least, your money stays right here in the local economy - we are a family owned small business employing only local Newcastle residents – your money doesn't end up in the pockets of anonymous shareholders in the UK or Italy.
