Have PCOS and are worried about conceiving? It IS possible to conceive quickly and easily with PCOS, but its important to get your menstrual and general health in check BEFORE you start trying for a baby.

As a clinical naturopath, I love supporting people with PCOS to increase their fertility and fall pregnant, especially because I have PCOS myself! And while my clinical approach is always unique to the individual I'm treating, here's what I did to support my own health before conceiving baby 3 on the first try:

1. Prioritised fresh, whole, in-season foods (but left space in my life for "fun" foods, eating out with friends, etc)

2. Made both physical exercise and sunligkt exposure non-negotiable daily practices

3. Reduced my exposure to endocrine-disruptinf chemicals in water, household products, cookware, personal care products etc, and gave my body time to reduce my overall load of these toxins (no heavy detoxes!)

4. Comprehensive bloods to identify nuttient deficiencies or other health concerns to address before falling pregnant - and then correcting what was found through supplementation and diet

5. Herbal medicines focused on improving egg quality, ovulation and fertility, and reducing stress

I started this work a good 6 months before conceiving - preconception care takes time!

Low milk supply can be such a challenging journey, but there are herbal medicines we can use to help!

Herbs known as "galactagogues" can stimulate milk production (when combined with frequent effective feeding/ pumping). Using herbal treatments like these can be a game changer when it comes to establishing or increasing your supply. Often in a naturopathic setting, these herbs would be combined with other herbs to support your nervous system and overall health, as well as lifestyle and nutrition strategies to make sure you're set up for success.

There are a whole host of herbs that can act as galactagogues, and they can be taken either as a tea or as a tincture, depending on what will work best for you.

For many breastfeeding mums, these offer a great short-term solution to increasing your supply, and don't need to be continued for very long, which is fantastic.

If you're wanting support with your breastfeeding journey, or with other aspects of your postpartum health, I'd love to help. Reach out in my DMs or head to the link in my bio and book a FREE discovery call and we can chat about how naturopathy might be helpful to you.🌞

Feeling completely exhausted, anxious, or like your body just isn't functioning right, even months after birth? It might be postpartum depletion.

Postpartum depletion is a common but under-recognised state of nutrient and hormonal drain that can occur soon after birth, or even years afterwards.

Pregnancy, birth and breastfeeding draw heavily on nutrient stores. Without rebuilding, there's a risk of long-term fatigue, dysfunction and poor health.

The good news is that with the right nutrition, herbs and treatment, your energy CAN return.

If you're currently feeling like this might be you, and you're curious to see if naturopathy might be a good fit for you, shoot me a DM or head to the link in my bio to book your free discovery call and let's chat 🌿

About Lizzie

Lizzie Liversidge is a fully qualified naturopath with a Bachelor of Health Science (Naturopathy) degree from the Australasian College of Natural Therapies. Lizzie first felt called to pursue a career in naturopathic medicine in her mid twenties, after experiencing dramatic breakthroughs in her mental and physical wellbeing by following naturopathic principles for health.

Lizzie’s approach to health is to identify and address the underlying causes, rather than just treating the symptoms. At the core of her practice is a passion for helping people to live healthier, happier lives through education, empowerment and tailored treatment plans to suit the individual.

Lizzie will be accepting patients for consultations starting January 2020, when Botanikal Naturopathy will launch at Body360 in Swansea, NSW.
