Have PCOS and are worried about conceiving? It IS possible to conceive quickly and easily with PCOS, but its important to get your menstrual and general health in check BEFORE you start trying for a baby.
As a clinical naturopath, I love supporting people with PCOS to increase their fertility and fall pregnant, especially because I have PCOS myself! And while my clinical approach is always unique to the individual I'm treating, here's what I did to support my own health before conceiving baby 3 on the first try:
1. Prioritised fresh, whole, in-season foods (but left space in my life for "fun" foods, eating out with friends, etc)
2. Made both physical exercise and sunligkt exposure non-negotiable daily practices
3. Reduced my exposure to endocrine-disruptinf chemicals in water, household products, cookware, personal care products etc, and gave my body time to reduce my overall load of these toxins (no heavy detoxes!)
4. Comprehensive bloods to identify nuttient deficiencies or other health concerns to address before falling pregnant - and then correcting what was found through supplementation and diet
5. Herbal medicines focused on improving egg quality, ovulation and fertility, and reducing stress
I started this work a good 6 months before conceiving - preconception care takes time!
