Vibration plates. Health or Hype!?
Youāve seen the claimsā¦
⢠Melt belly fat while you stand there
⢠Cellulite gone in days?
⢠Stress and ācortisol faceā magically melts away
Hereās what the research says
Small benefits for bone density (this study was done in post-menopausal women, but they werenāt doing any other exercise or movement)
Can improve strength in older adults or rehab settings
May support lymphatic flow through gentle movement
Hereās what the evidence doesnāt strongly suggest;
Fat loss
Cellulite removal
Cortisol or stress āmeltingā
Thatās not to say it doesnāt do these things, thereās just no research for this yet BUT these 3 things are way more complicated than a vibration plate can solve.
When it comes to Lymphatic drainage, thereās no strong research around this yet, but your lymph system does rely on movement, and vibration is movement. So it could help circulation and lymph flow, just not in a magical, detox way.
But is it fun? Yes.
Necessary? No.
A walk, lifting weights, breathing well and regular movement are all free things that do the same thing.
Got a health or hype trend you want me to look at? Lemme knooow!
Stay hydrated,
Gabs
