🍂 Hello from WA! If you were wondering why I have been quiet lately it’s because I have taken some time and accepted a temporary midwifery contract in the Kimberly. I am working and living in a town called Derby up in the top end of WA. The Kimberly is an incredible place and nothing like I have ever experienced. I have very little acsess to internet and I’ll be posting a little less then usual but I will try and update you all when I can! For now this means my classes are on hold but will recommence when i return to NSW. Whenever that might be! Big love to all 🍂

🍂Things have been a little bit quiet online from me recently. Managing a few changes that have come with this year, as well as some ongoing issues with the awful disease that is endometriosis. I have been informed this week I will be having another laparoscopic excision of endometriosis surgery, which will now be my fourth, and that will be happening in less than two weeks time. This is due to more dangerous cysts forming on my ovaries, as well as a dramatic increase in pain. It’s a bit of a blow seeing as it’s only just clicked over 12 months since my last procedure and surgery which landed me a stint in ICU and a bowel resection. I feel more confident this surgery won’t be anywhere near as invasive as the last, but struggle to not feel anxious for my poor little ovaries every time in the lead up. I know it has to be done and am getting better at accepting it as the years have gone on. It will at least give me time to catch up on my post grad degree and edit some beautiful photos. I am going to share some edits from a new born shoot in January and I’m really excited for you to see them. As always reach out with any questions or queries. Big love

🍂I took this photo at Mel’s day 1 postnatal check, she was still in bed after an incredible overnight home birth with her wonderful partner. I love the pride on her face after a successful night of feeding and looking at her perfect daughter. Alaska is Mel’s first baby but you would never have known, she took to being a mother like a duck to water. Mel and I also grew up for most of our childhood as next door neighbours making it all the more special. I loved being a witness/midwife at Mel’s birth, typing this gave me goosebumps. 🥰 .dawson🍂

🍂This is a post to all of the wonderful women who I have supported who have in return, always supported me. The world is scary and difficult at the moment and yesterday was a bad day. I am isolating as a close contact, rescheduling like a mad woman, managing a difficult time with my endometriosis and yesterday my word did it all feel too much. The culture we have created in our little birth community however meant I was able to wave my white flag of surrender to the day and the women in my care rushed in with words of encouragement, love and support. Today I feel like I know I have to continue to fight for the work I do through this difficult time and find a way. Midwifery is my whole world and I am so lucky the women I support see this and understand that some days are harder than others. We will make it through this once again and come out stronger for it but for the mean time it can become overwhelming and that’s ok. I am currently working out how to continue proving lessons over the next few months and keep everyone safe but I will find a way. Karyn and I are entering back into the homebirthing world after our little holiday break and doing everything in our power to protect women and their births and will continue to do so.
Thank you .morgan_ for being the dream team of pregnant learning mothers. Your support in the last week has been invaluable. I’m also excited to announce I have a website coming close to completion which will have new offerings coming this year. So a shout out and thank you.
