International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples is celebrated each year on 9 August to recognise the unique cultures, traditions, and contributions of Indigenous peoples around the world.
Indigenous communities are the custodians of diverse ways of life, holding deep connections to land, culture, and community. They maintain social, economic, political, and spiritual traditions that are distinct from the mainstream societies in which they live.
This day is not only a time to celebrate Indigenous heritage and achievements — it’s also a moment to reflect on the ongoing challenges Indigenous peoples face and the importance of promoting and protecting their rights.

Our team had the pleasure of attending the Hunter New England Central Coast Primary Health Network's 2025 Primary Care Quality and Innovation Awards in support of Dr Robyn Fried, who was a finalist in the Equity of Access category for her compassionate work providing trauma-informed care at Soul Hub Newcastle. While Dr Robyn didn’t take home the award, we were proud to stand beside her and celebrate her remarkable contribution.
Congratulations to Coast & Country Primary Care on winning in this category. A well-deserved recognition for a valued partner in our region.
👏 We’re also incredibly proud of Dr Annette Caruthers from our GP Access After Hours team, who received the Dedication to Service Award and was inducted into the Primary Care Hall of Fame. Annette’s long-standing commitment to patient care, clinical excellence and after hours service has made a lasting impact across our region.

Loneliness Awareness Week shines a light on a topic many find hard to talk about — loneliness. The truth is everyone experiences loneliness at some point in their lives. And the longer it lasts, the more it can impact our health and wellbeing.
This year’s theme is ‘Moments Matter’ — a powerful reminder that connection often begins with something small. A smile, a shared laugh, a compliment, or a simple hello. These little moments can spark friendships, build belonging, and help us feel seen.

This year’s National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children’s Day theme is Little Footsteps, Big Future. Proudly championed by SNAICC, this theme honours the journeys our children take as they grow - each step guided by culture, community and connection to Country.
We invite you to join us in recognising the importance of nurturing children’s voices and dreams. Together, we can support a future where every child walks strong in their identity and is empowered to shape their own path.

This week, our team came together to celebrate NAIDOC Week 2025 and this year’s theme: The Next Generation – Strength, Vision & Legacy.
Our morning tea featured a heartfelt Welcome to Country by Aunty Theresa Dargin from Spiritual Water Ways, the screening of We Were Just Little Boys – a powerful short film by Kinchela Boys Home Aboriginal Corporation and a delicious spread from Yaama Gomerio Connection.
It was a time to pause, reflect and honour the enduring strength of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and to look ahead with hope to the next generation.
