Elermore Glen was awash with all things green for our annual St. Patrick’s Day celebration. We enjoyed a delicious dinner consisting of potato pie, peas, carrots and gravy followed by an Irish dessert. Our entertainment over dinner was wonderful with Ron Owen and Greg Mason singing and playing some beautiful Irish songs and ballads. There were over 100 residents at this function, possibly a record of attendance!

On the first of March, 52 eager folk mainly from Elermore Glen left for Lake Jindabyne on the Life of Riley bus tour. We had a very interesting and fun time and thank Carmel Wells for organising. We visited such places as Perisher, Smiggins, Charlotte’s Pass and Thredbo. Also the Snowy Hydro Visitor Centre and museum at Cooma as well as the gaol and so much more. It was lovely to mingle and have a chat with different people from the Village. A great trip!

Nearly one hundred residents celebrated Australia Day in the Community Centre at Elermore Glen. They dressed in their best Aussie gear and had photos taken in front of a beach scene complete with seagulls eating chips at their feet. Residents enjoyed a BBQ with lamingtons and pavlova for dessert. The thong throwing contest and Aussie trivia added to the spirit of the day.

The fundraiser this year at Elermore Glen was for Dementia research at the Hunter Medical Research Institute. A huge thanks to our generous residents who donated lovely prizes, bought copious numbers of tickets in the raffle and tombala, cooked delicious cakes and slices and made sandwiches and helped make it a successful and fun day.

Recently Elermore Glen residents dressed up in their finery, donned their masks and kicked up their heels at the Masked Soirée. With canapés and champagne upon arrival, the residents really went to great lengths with their masks and formal attire and The Howard Ward’s Show Band played ensuring everyone had a wonderful evening.

Mothers, grandmothers and great grandmothers were celebrated in style with a high tea at Elermore Glen for Mother’s Day. The stands of food looked beautiful and everything was delicious! We had a special singer Greg Mason, who sang to his mother, Clare Lucas, a previous Elermore Glen resident and of course to everyone else! We thoroughly enjoyed the concert.
