It’s time to announce our second speaker! Meet Kerrie Wisely, our nursing & midwifery speaker!

Kerrie Wisely is a Lecturer in Women Adolescent and Children’s Health at the University of Newcastle Department of Rural Health (UONDRH) in Taree.  Kerrie graduated from Macarthur Institute of Higher Education with a Bachelor of Science (Nursing) in 1995 and a Graduate Diploma in Midwifery from UWS in 1997. 
As a midwife, Kerrie has been providing services to her local community for over 20 years.  She also has a strong interest in medical and interprofessional education.  

We are beyond excited to hear Kerrie’s stories at rural soirée on May 1st! Tickets are at our link in bio!

Meet our allied health speaker for our upcoming rural soirée on May 1st!

Sonja is a Lecturer in Pharmacy at The University of Newcastle Department of Rural Health (UONDRH) in Tamworth.  This position enables her to work collaboratively with undergraduate pharmacy students and preceptors to enhance the clinical placement experience of students in rural and regional settings.

Sonja’s role at the UONDRH includes being a Rural Pharmacy Liaison Officer (RPLO). As an RPLO, Sonja supports local pharmacists by coordinating and facilitating local continuing professional development opportunities and providing networking opportunities and mentoring for intern and newly graduated pharmacists. Sonja is passionate about developing strategies to address the rural pharmacy workforce shortage

Sonja has worked as a clinical pharmacist in both community and hospital settings across NSW and is a credentialed pharmacist with the PSA.

a recap on our first rural high school visit for 2026! Thank you to all of the lovely students who came, we had such a fun time getting to know you all, and we hope you enjoyed the trip, made new friends and fell in love/more in love with rural health!
Thank you to the 3 beautiful schools we worked with, and 2 of our amazing incredibly hardworking RHSV reps Mickayla & Martha who made this trip such a success!
Thank you to and TRRH for having us.

Applications for our first rural high school trip are now open! 📚👨‍🌾Our amazing RHSV team have been cooking up an exciting opportunity open to any UON health students who are passionate about rural health, or wanting to find out what it’s all about! 🌾🐮
This time round were heading North West to the Tamworth area, visiting some schools in the surrounding towns between the 26th and 28th March.

Wanting to get ahead with auscultation 🩺? Still trying to figure out how to put a blood pressure cuff on correctly (we’ve all been there dw), or do u keep hearing about those pesky ECG things and would like to know how to read them🔍?

We’ve got you. Run by our lovely 3rd/4th yr legends, the night will consist of a few skills stations with dinner on us and a kahoot to finish.
