🎉 Celebrating 30 years of in Australia 🎉

What started in 1994 with a single suitcase of LivingWorks ASIST materials, has grown into three decades of building su***de-safer communities across Australia and the Asia-Pacific region. From the very first LivingWorks ASIST Training for Trainers in Bundaberg in 1996 to a long-standing collaboration with Lifeline Australia, LivingWorks has helped equip tens of thousands of people with the skills to step in and save lives.

Along the way, milestones followed: Lifeline volunteers adopting LivingWorks ASIST throughout the country, the co-creation of LivingWorks safeTALK with the Australian Defence Force - Defence Australia, the opening of LivingWorks Australia office in 2011 and training delivered at scale across cities, regions and some of the most remote communities in the world. LivingWorks has worked closely with partners like MATES in Construction, StandBy Support After Su***de, Australian Government Department of Health, Disability and Ageing, batyr, R U OK?, Switchboard Victoria and Indigenous leaders to deliver culturally meaningful programs where they are needed most.

Thirty years in, the mission remains the same: empowering everyday people with the skills and confidence to help prevent su***de in their communities.

Human connection is life-sustaining.

That belief shaped Connect – a digital platform designed to support Helpers before, during and after training.

✅ Trusted tools and resources

Research continues to show that connection matters. LivingWorks Connect brings together digital innovation with human connection to help Helpers take action – anytime, anywhere.

Independent survey results examining feedback from LivingWorks ASIST-trained Glasgow City services staff from January–December 2024 show just how powerful ASIST training can be:

- 56.5% of Helpers used their skills when someone needed support
- 98.8% would recommend this training to others

As part of Scotland’s National Su***de Prevention Strategy, LivingWorks ASIST - delivered through the Glasgow City Su***de Prevention Partnership Training Calendar - is creating meaningful and measurable change.

These results reinforce why evidence‑based training matters: it prepares real people to support others at critical moments.

We’re proud to highlight leaders at the forefront of the world’s two largest evidence-based community helper training organisations.

Mental Health First Aid International's CEO, Angus Clelland, visited headquarters last week – meeting with LivingWorks CEO, Lance Armstrong to explore how our work can continue to strengthen communities around the world.

***dePrevention skills training and literacy training reinforce each other. Together, they create a comprehensive, layered approach to prevention – where mental health literacy supports early recognition and help-seeking, and su***de prevention training equips people with the confidence and skills to reach in and help save a life.

When organisations with a shared purpose come together, the impact extends beyond our teams. Collaboration strengthens our collective ability to build safer, more compassionate communities where people are prepared to recognise and respond in moments when it matters most.

19/03/2026

More funded su***de prevention skills training available! Completely free for members of the veterinary community.

We're proud to be partnering once again with VetHerd to deliver a 2-day course in Melbourne.

Thanks to Lyppard & LivingWorks for their support 🫶🏼
