My movement journey 🧘🏽♂️
2. I began ballet at age 3 because my grandmother said I needed to learn some discipline 🤭 my heart was absolutely captivated by this practice. I left school at 14 to do it full-time. 8hrs a day/6 days a week. 🩰
3. Contemporary dance was my other love. At age 16, right before I was supposed to leave for Germany to pursue my dance career, I decided I didn’t want to and pulled out.
4. At 17, I randomly became a chef. This was never in my plans but it was fate and I loved it! I still got to have my creative outlet plus I loved hanging out with grownups all day. Unfortunately I had an eating disorder during this decade, so being around food 24/7 meant anxiety was at an all time high. Oh and my movement practice was mostly dancing on nightclub tables 💃🍸
5. Enter Yoga.. when I lived in Sydney, my good friend started taking me to a Bikram studio in Darlinghurst. I was always hungover when we went but I loved the sweat and stretching my body so deeply again.
6. After returning home from living abroad for a long time, I found myself in a mental health hospital, where yoga re-entered my life. The combination of deep therapy and yoga inspired me to become a yoga teacher. I did my first 200hr hot power vinyasa training 🔥
7. I did a lot of unsupervised contortion movement over the next few years that left me with some pretty intense injuries. My flexibility was being praised but I didn’t understand the importance of balance in strength.
8. I went travelling the world again, this time as a yoga teacher and I got to do pop up classes and trainings through USA & Europe. Pictured was a yoga assists training in Costa Rica 🇨🇷
9. The challenge era. After returning home in covid, I did a lot of modelling and challenges for yoga brands. Not my style now but back then I was LIVIN! 📸
10. Present day.. my movement practice feels well-rounded. It consists of yoga, pilates, strength training, yin, cardio.. and I have rehabilitated my injuries. What I teach (similar to what I practice), is more traditional than ever and far more based on moving energy intelligently 💫
