About the Role
The Diverse Ability Foundation (MyDAF), based in Maitland, is currently seeking a qualified and experienced female Support Worker to join our growing team. While we are open to applicants of all experience levels, we strongly encourage Auslan students and users to apply.
This role involves working directly within the Deaf Community, with a focus on providing support to clients who have complex or high support needs and are also Deaf. MyDAF specialises in this unique intersection of disability and communication access, and the successful applicant will play a key role in empowering individuals who rely on Auslan as their primary means of communication.
Applicants must meet one of the following criteria:
β’ Be fluent or highly skilled in Auslan;
β’ Be currently studying Auslan at any level;
β’ Be willing to attend a weekly two-hour Auslan class with Julia, a MyDAF Director, senior Disability Advocate, and qualified Auslan teacher with over 25 yearsβ experience in Disability Support and comprehensive AUSLAN teaching through Community Colleges, TAFE, and Southern Cross University.
This position is currently for a specific client; however, as MyDAF continues to expand, additional opportunities are anticipated for the right candidate to grow with the organisation.
As a Support Worker, you will assist clients with daily tasks such as:
βοΈ Cooking and meal preparation
βοΈ Household cleaning and maintenance
βοΈ Community access and social outings
βοΈ Weekly and weekend activities
Your role is essential in enhancing the well-being and independence of our clients.

Selection Criteria
β
Certificate IV in Disability or Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability)
β
Proven experience working with individuals with complex disabilities
β
Strong work ethic and commitment to regular shifts
β
Flexible availability for shift coverage
β
Reliable, compassionate, and positive approach to care
Mandatory Requirements
π Updated First Aid & CPR certification
π Working with Children Check
π NDIS Worker Screening Check
π Relevant qualifications/certificates
π Valid driverβs license and own vehicle with comprehensive insurance
