From 15 May, the RSV vaccine will be free and available from Merewether Pharmacy for:
🧓 Australians aged 75 or older (newly eligible!)
🌏 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders aged 60 or older (newly eligible!)
🤰 pregnant women (already eligible).

And it’s right on time! RSV cases have been increasing since late January, which means the 2026 RSV season has begun.

In 2026 so far, RSV infection has been most common in:
🍼 babies and children aged 9 years or younger
🧓 adults aged 75 years or older.

And these groups are also among those at greater risk of severe illness from RSV.

💉 The best protection for everyone is to get vaccinated against RSV.

School holidays are almost here!

‼️ Don’t forget to collect your child’s adrenaline (epinephrine) device (EpiPen® or neffy®) from school on the last day of term. It’s best to have it with you over the holiday break in case you need another adrenaline device in an emergency.

⏰ Set a reminder on your phone to return it on day one when your child goes back to school.

⏰ Set a reminder on your phone to return it on day one when your child goes back to school.

While you have it, now's a good time to check the expiry date on your child's adrenaline device. The expiry date can be found on the side of the device. We encourage you to mark this date in your diary.

We recommend Children's Education and Care (CEC) services and schools also check the expiry date on their general use adrenaline device/s. They may appreciate a gentle reminder to do this.

If your adrenaline device is due to expire, make sure to arrange an appointment with your GP to get a new prescription. We suggest you organise to replace your adrenaline device before the expiry date of your current device.

Note: If your adrenaline device expires in May 2026, the expiry date is May 31st (not May 1st).
